Anyone else on here signed up for this over the Bank holiday weekend? I'm envisaging a whole world of pain coming my way!

We're team M&M in the Challenger category.

Not signed up but would love to do this one year, are you doing it over the 2 or 4 days?

Excellent, that's about 6 1/2 hours in the saddle per day. Don't forget your chamois cream as you will defo need it wink

I would like to attempt it in 2 but maybe this type of fitness is a couple of years away assuming my body doesn't start declining too quickly.

How many of you doing the ride? I would have to go alone as I doubt I could find anyone as daft as me to come along lol

About 110 in the expert (2 day)class and 200 in the challenger (4 day) class. Should be an experience!

You can do 200 mile a day for 2 days with fairly minimal endurance experience. It'll be uncomfortable and will break you for a few days afterward but think of the achievement factor.

That's what I'm after, achievements! I love riding long distances, just gives me a buzz. I have done 4 days at 100 miles per day already this year so know I can do that, its the 200 in one day that is my next challenge then double it.

I did LEJOG in 2008 in 4 1/2 days carrying my own supplies. That's over 200 miles a day for the duration. I did about 4 or 5 100 milers over the 2 weeks before but never cycled further. It's the same in marathon running. You never run the full distance before the race as you'll peak too early. Just grin and bear it for 2 days and you'll be fine.

made it to the half way point at York. 101 miles yesterday, 121 today. that's the two 'easy' days over with!! averaging around 16.5mph which I'm happy with. bring on the hills tomorrow!!

P.S. I'm actually a broken man struggling to walk or think! tomorrow is going to be torture.

long day today, 113 miles and 5500ft of accent. some pretty steep hills but I refused to walk up them like a lot of folk. 4 or 5 steep climbs were sapping, managed 48.5 mph on one decont though lol. 1 day left, 108 miles but one big long hill. over 6000ft of accent. but long and steady I can do lol. Edinburgh here we come!

Good stuff. Lots of double century plus events still left on the calendar - http://www.aukweb.net/events/

You've missed entry for the big one this year - http://www.londonedinburghlondon.com but arguably the toughest UK audax ride of the year is still open for entries - http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/13-312/ - 613km, 10150m, 40hr time limit. I'm in for both, but it's the hilly 600 that's making me turn down nights at the pub and skip dessert.

Enjoy your ride - London to Edinburgh this year, do an SR series next year and you'll be in great shape for Paris-Brest-Paris in 2015!
