Stradale or Gallardo ?
Discussion
I've had my Gallardo for 4 months now, so I feel like I am now post honeymoon period. For me, the G car made a lot more sense than the CS - unlike some of the recent rather heated chat on here, I think Lambos and Ferraris are both things of beauty and consider myself lucky to run either! I drive my car most days, and appreciate the comfort and relative 'sensible' interior of the Gallardo (I know some criticise this aspect of the car), as there are many days when you don't want a bucket seat and racing harness, but just want to whack the A/C on and stick a CD on and chill. I am about to fit a Tubi to it, and I think that will take me as far down the CS route as I want to go.
The CS is a beautiful car but I think it lacks the drama of the Lambo, and for me, that swung it.

Nice to see sensible comments rather than people taking side shots at each other - as you say they are both great cars and we are very lucky to be able to afford and own either - I suppose the answer does probaly come down to comfort - I currently have a Noble 3R which is fantastic but I do feel I need a little more luxury sometimes. I also run a 420+ bhp Audi S4 which is a hoot and provides that side of things - not sure on residuals CS is obviously limited run but I always assume I will lose money on cars and that is life
You can pick a Stradale up for £100k on the continent (www.uk.mobile.de) you won't have much depreciation on that.
Daily driver - Gallardo
Something more "special" and challenging - 360 CS
Personally, I'll like the Gallardo more when there is a more hardcore version with a more special interior , a bit like the CS if you like.
Both are stunning however, and we are splitting hairs in trying to seperate them. I think the choice will be a very personal one.
I would be careful over the price on both however.
The Gallardo IMO is in danger of over supply - check out the Sunday Times and the net and there are LOADS of them for sale at optimistic prices.
The 360 price is threatened by the imminent 430 - but I guess the exotic nature of the Stradale might be some protection.
Don't overpay, whatever you choose.
Lucky chap !!

Tough call.
Even more tough as the CS is unlikely to be new, and if it is it'd cost more than the Gallardo.
Similarly, how much will the spicy versions of the Gallardo be? Something like 60k between the Gallardo and the Murci in std trim? Used v new though and you have Murci's at the same money.
Life's such a conundrum. Wouldn't want to be a marketing guru at Fiat or Audi right now
I'm very keen on the CS, but a Murci or Vanquish seem to make more sense if you have other cars available.
PS Just reading Classic Cars. May be an even better bet to spend the wedge on lottery tickets. Some of the 1m+ cars they have are achingly desirable.

Good article. 2 of the cars featured are owned by Ralph Lauren.
I would choose the 250 GTO. You can keep your Merc's as far as I'm concerned.
Worth pointing out the Gallardo options list is now enormous. Was in Lambo Manchester last week with the Murci(1st service - done 2600 miles in the first month heh heh) and all the options now add up to £30K+. A nicely speced 1 will be minimum 5-10K. The Murci has few options at all though. I would like a see through engine cover though on mine.
As previous posts the Gallardo is very much more a daily driver, as is the Murci. I was in B&Q with it on Wednesday, put a bag of peat in the boot

Always preferred the 250 GT SWB over the GTO.
And the Merc 300SLR is an awesome machine. W196 GP car in a gorgeous body. I wouldn't say no. But then I wouldn't say not to many of the motors in that list!
Driving both on the same day could be an interesting challenge !!! As for residuals this could go either way - Lambo flooded the market in December 03 creating a glut of cars hence the current problem - delivery numbers have been reduced for next year but really there are only 2 proper buyers. I have heard that cars are part xing for below £ 90k -- CS should have a year or two before 430 takes hold so who knows -- I will let you all know what I decide and thanks for the feed back
