I have been looking at putting an order in for a new Cayman S, but then someone said today 'for the price you will pay for that, you can get a good 911, and it won't lose anywhere near as much money'. So it got me thinking and that's why I am writing this. I don't know very much about the different model 911's because I can't afford a new one. and I have never considered a used one, just in case something went wrong, and I get a massive repair bill.

Is there a good 911 that can be had with a good warranty with a budget of 50k, that will not lose anywhere near as much money as a new Cayman?

Usage would be about 6k a year. I know I can look at Porsche used approved models, and get a 2 year warranty.
What I would like to know is which models hold their value the best, and don't spend all their time on a ramp

I am assuming the S models are the more sought after? Are there any options that they must have? Should you keep clear of models with PDK and things like that?

My experience showed manual Gen 2 cars were sticking around and PDK cars were selling. I only considered S models and you'd be mad to buy without satnav. Sport chrono plus, universal audio interface and phone module are worth having.

After that there are 4 different types of seat, so see what you like. Then you can consider whether any of the other options interest you.

I avoided black or white ones, but a basalt black Porsche is always a safe bet.

Get it with Porsche warranty and you'll be we'll covered. They are proving better than the Gen 1 cars, but I wouldn't start making any outrageous claims.

You can choose to keep the Porsche warranty until the car is 10 years old.
All the newish cars lose money except the GT3 and they're not quite 50 grand yet for a good one....

Important question is that what car you want to drive. Many people want cayman even if they could afford to buy a 911. Smart money go to CR as low volume keeps prices better than massively produced 911s.

Remember to add options ontop of the 50k!

You are nearer 60k after that, why not consider a 997 turbo for 40-50k?
Some GT variants are also in the same neck of the woods.
