As British GP venue. At least thats what the BBC scrolling news claims.

No other detail yet.

If Bernie has dropped the british gp altogether I think we should chuck him out ot the country.

The Arabs have just started a new world series for F1 as a counterpoint to the current F1 roadshow.

China is the biggest emerging marketplace for the tobacco industry. The Bernie show is the Sales & Marketing division for the tobacco industry.

In the west, we now know the full dangers of smoking and it is declining. So why should F1 give a damn about racing in the west. Sod Silverstone.

In the east, smoking is on the up, we just had the Chinese Grand Prix...jeez, did you see the new stadium. Plus all the other new far eastern venues.

It is a conspiracy centred on smoking.

Its about time Bernie was kicked out of F1 irrespective of where he lives, if we can sieze his assets at the same time so much the better.

Well. Do we care?

Most of us reckon that F1 has got dull. If Silverstone put on a couple of other large events instead I'd probably go to see them and enjoy them...especially if they were better priced.

Champ Cars maybe?

Still - I feel its a bit of history passing which is a crying shame...

I'm sure he is just playing a game and it will be in for next year. Smart bloke though I'n sure he is I really don't like some of his tactics.

Hardly surprising if it's right.

Bernie wants the amount of money that he's been paid every year for the last decade. Silverstone can't afford that by itself, so put in a lower offer, hoping for mercy.

Bernie thinks: I know, I'll take it to Bahrain or Russia instead.

This will rumble on for months. I can see the teams having a say and this will widen the rift between the teams/manufacturers and the organisers (and Bernie) even more.

One of the first nails in F1's coffin, maybe? Good riddance, bloody expensive single seater series!

I think its quite a sad day for british motorsport enthusiasts.

Yes F1 has become a bit dull with the schumacher/ferrari dominance but it is still the pinnacle of world motor sport.

I saw F1 cars at Silverstone for the first time this year and i have to say i was stunned by the noise and speed.

It will be a shame if it goes for good.

Whether F1 is or isn't a spectacle anymore, it's a crying shame as someone correctly stated, that considering the number of teams and suppliers to F1 that are based in this country that we can't even put a race on here. Tobacco conspiracy, is probably near to the truth. Did someone say 22,000 pubs in the UK are considering a smoking ban?

Every year for the past 5 years Silverstone has been "dropped", only to be reinstated.

I'll wait until after the 13th october before I believe it...

bit disappointed, but we still get sportscars which is a far better form of racing so I don't care

Long live the British GT Championship, FIA GTS and the LMES

the FIA can take their F1 and shove it, well, in the middle east probably

Le Mans Endurance racing is much better than F1.

I went to the GP in 1985 and vowed never to go again despite the Marlboro girls

6 hours to get back to Reading after being told by BiBs that I could only go North! FFS
