Buying Fox Forks in the UK

It seems my Google-fu is letting me down.

Where the hell can I buy Fox forks in the UK (or Europe)? (For a reasonable price!)

I'm building up a Cotic Soul, but I want to order forks at the same time as I order the frame...

Pretty sure CRC, Evans, Winstanley etc all sell them? Not sure what their pricing is like though.

CRC seem to only have a limited selection.

All the usual places will sell you Fox stuff, I'm not sure if the prices are fixed by Fox, or there is decent competition and they just cost that much!! They don't seem to be discounted in the autumn as much as other brands.

If the budget isn't quite there, or you can't face spending NINE HUNDRED POUNDS on bicycle forks, check out the reviews for the RS and Marz equivalents, Fox aren't the clear kings of the game anymore and the others are a little cheaper on rrp and more often better discounted.

I couldn't bring myself to buy new Fox stuff again, given how good a job Mojo do, I'll buy second-hand and have Mojo refresh them before I fit.

If I was building up a frame there is absolutely no way I'd pay new prices for Fox. Its just crazy. A nice set of 3 year old 32s or whatever for sale s/h that have just been to TF/Mojo/Loco etc would be just fine and a fraction of the price.

Yeah, I'm probably going down the used route, there is an authorised service centre very close to me so it's not a hassle to get them serviced.

I have read good things about X Fusion forks. Tried a set and they feel good.

My friend just bought some 34s from ebay.us. Paid a lot less!

^^^^ X Fusion is Fox by another name and they have a good rep. If you go down the Fox route then check the stanchions very carefully as there's an issue with wear on them.

How did he get on with the import duty? I've been after a Cove G-Spot frame for ages, but they're rare and expensive in the UK, there's a load of them on Pinkbike in Canada and the US for reasonable money, but when I calculated the import duty it was pointless.

Few German shops quite happliy punting stuff over to the UK for a lot of people now.

I have to agree though - its no longer as clear cut as 'want the best - buy fox', and I'd consider RS as a very worthy alternative (if they have the right model/spec you want).

Let's go at a tangent.

I'm after 32 120mm forks, with a tapered steerer.

Not too fussed about 9/15mm QR/Maxle.

Any advice?

I struggled too for my Soul. I'm on 100mn SIDs which are actually fine but I will be after Fox soon (stiffer and don't have the hateful remote lockout) of the same type; 15mm Maxle, 120mm, tapered steerer. Mojo do have the occasional sale on their website but its still tricky. eBay is worth a look.

Only other option i can find is a RS Reba but its too similar to my SIDs! Still the SIDs have plenty of life yet; light, plush but could be stiffer.

Running 150mm Revelations on the BFE which are great so I can recommend revelations but regardless of travel, I'd definately go for at least 15mm maxle. It amkes a huge difference in the faster corners and you get much greter control.

totally unhelpful but I have some 120mm tapered fox fit damper, 15mm 32s on my ghost and they are really very very lovely things to ride.

slightly more helpful if your bike is tapered you could buy some 1 1/8 forks and fit a lower reducer cup or whatever they are called. Hope do them I think.

Yeah, the Soul as a tapered headtube. I think that might be a way to save around £100 if I go for 1/8" instead...

Heres a tip - talk to Loco tuning.

The guys an expert in RS forks.

I wanted coil, 140mm, black lowers, 15mm maxle - no such fork existed.

I have one, built from Rockshox sektor and revelation bits - my perfect fork - I could in fact change to a tapered steerer now 9frame is also a Cotic Bfe).

You could even pick up a Revelation, have it modified to the correct length/travel, blackbox damper cartirdge, and I bet it would still be less than an equivalent Fox...?

I reckon on a Soul a Revelatio lower (for the stiffness) but modified to 120mm would be lovely.
