countryman cooper shocking mpg

Done a 500mile round trip in my other halfs countryman today. Had to refill on the return.

Average speed 70mph all motorway, mpg came out at 30.9 !

My s5 runs at 20/25mpg average !

Anyone else pitch in with theirs ?

Its a fat large car about as aerodynamic as a house


Likewise would a fat bird running burn up lots are lard?

Did you find the 6th gear?

But yes, as above... it's a big, heavy, lardy car with a weedy 120hp petrol engine in it. It won't ever be economical.

I'm getting 36-37 from my Cooper S Countrymam and that's around town

How many miles on the clock? Could still be running in.

It's a possibility, has just under 5k miles

I'm just reaching 8000 miles in my Cooper D and the MPG has begun to improve. Give it time.
However, I doubt you'll get anywhere near the claimed combined figure.

Cooper SD All 4 Manual here.. getting just 38.5 mpg on average (mixed use) after 3.5K miles.. hope it improves!

Cooper D All 4 Manual 8k 40.7mpg average sometimes see just over 41. It has improved last few thousand miles

My father has averaged 38.7mpg average on mixed use (although lots of very short trips and when on longer runs it gets extended), Cooper SD All4 Auto, 8k miles from new.
