My mate has offered me a Vi Monitor so wondering if it will work?

i know nothing on this sort of subject really but its a protocol for On Board Diagnostics...

Production cars have it to allow testing/trouble shooting etc etc

Something like On Board Diagnostics port and no the Noble doesn't have one

So what's the D-type conector in the engine bay if not a diagnostics connector?

port is there but ECU is not design for OBD2 protocol. GFernandez in the US is working on piggybacking a stock ford ECU to handle that part and make the car OBDII compliant, which make registration easier in many states.

It's where you plug your laptop in with the noble program from nobleparts, but its diagnostics is very limited
