yes your manual needs sports chrono!
Discussion
whilst enjoying the sunshine yesterday i thought i would play with the sport button, now it has major advantages for pdk and some say its not worth having with a manual but i beg to differ.i always drive with the sport button pressed so while driving along at 70 mph i decided to switch it off well the feeling on the loud pedal felt like when your driving a 50bhp car and suddenly switch the aircon on the acceleration just felt flat.i continued to drive with it to see how it felt at other speeds and it just felt so wrong.now i know its only a remap to improve pedal response but it just felt so much quicker with the button pressed and i will never turn the button off again.why didnt porsche make this throttle map as standard i will never understand
Hmm, I have had with and without and on PDK and Manual.
PDK I can really see the difference.
Manual I still struggle. If you drive permanently with sport on, then I can understand why first reaction is that it makes the car seem quite lazy. But I think that is because you are used to the car reacting to smaller throttle inputs.
However, if you only every drive in normal (or don't have it) then your brain is used to the travel on the throttle and the performance of the car is exacyly the same. Dial in 100% throttle (regardless of the throttle position) and the car will do the same.

Mine is a manual and has Sports Chrono Package Plus from the factor. I still don't have a clue what it does??? Still haven't used the sports button either (100% is 100% right?).
I did unplug the PSE sensor the other day though but don't think that does anything more than replicate a press of the PSE button in the cabin, unless someone confirms it keeps the bafflers wider or something?

not saying the automatic throttle blipper is better than good ol' heel and toe, I'm just clarifying what you do and don't get if you spec sport chrono. My understanding is if you don't spec it on the manual - you still get the "sport" button for sharper throttle response but you don't get the throttle blipper. If you do spec it, you get the throttle blipper. Correct?
Personally, I agree with the comment that you may as well go PDK if you don't want to heel and toe yourself...

I'm interested to know if this is the case too? I have a feeling the manual 987 doesn't have this?n17ves said:
For me the biggest advantage with the sports chrono is the extra slip angle allowed without PCM intervention.
PCM intervention? I guess changing from your "Reggie Dixon's Tango Treats" CD to Radio 1 mid-corner can be a right b
h!If you don't want PSM intervention, turn it off. If you want a more sensitive throttle, push harder.

I am, there is no way you can threshold brake to 100% with heal and toe every corner.even the 997 race cars have auto blip, it's just better so you can get the best from braking.
All the pro cars use it this year.
