Ive just configured my new mini and wondered if any of you have any advice on this!!

Its a lightning blue jcw s with the auto box and black cross spoke challenge wheels,i need an auto due to a motorcycle injury which can leave my left leg with pins and needles after time.Is the jcw worth the £4500 premium over the cooper s??

I only do around 100 miles a week commute so fuel consumption isnt an issue and i already drive a 2.5v6 alfa to work at present so it cant be much worse if any can it??

Going for a chat with the salesman at stephen james tomorrow so all being well!!!

thanks....

I work at a MINI dealer and would say the JCW is a totally different car to the Cooper S, a lot more involving.

It depends what you want out of the car and what kind of drive you want it to be, the Cooper S is nippy but the JCW is less refined and more raw. I'd go JCW every time.

Agree 100%. Residuals are excellent on JCW too, so £s difference is no issue.

Yes the resiudals on the S are poor, which in turn makes it the better second hand car. JCW residuals are better in % terms but still pretty shocking from new in £ terms.

The JCW I tried at Goodwood was too stiffly sprung and wouldn't ride the curbs as efficiently as my 08 MCS.

Traction was also more of an issue.

As a result track times were near identical, not that it matters much for a road car.

Sports suspension is a no-cost option on the JCW but, although tempting, I suspect it's best for track use rather than the road. I went for the standard suspension on mine which I think is the same as on an MCS and have never regretted it: it's a hoot on the road and I think anything stiffer could spoil it.

It was on sport indeed but even on track, while clearly minimising lateral weight transfer, you had to go around the kerbs rather than over, even on non-RFTS.
