997 GT3 Prices?
Discussion
I've been looking around at Gen 2 GT3's and they're aren't that many on the market - those that are, are around £70-80k.....which as I remember wasn't so much off the list price?
Any ideas why values are so strong and do you think they'll stay this way once the new one comes out? At a guess that'll be £110k with a couple options on it?

Simply because they are so few cars for sale and a larger number looking to buy. I’ve have been looking since the new year, anything decent sells in days.
Only last month a 2010, good spec car sold at BCA auction for circa £70k.
I think the delivery of the 991 GT3 will have little or no impact on 997 GT3 values. This genre of car seems to be rising in used values (See Ferrari Scuds as another example, together with SL Gallardo’s)
997 cars may be cheaper next year, but this will in all likelihood be due to being an extra year old, few more miles covered and one more track day season under their belts, not the 991 GT3 factor.
OP, per last response, you're way off on cost new. My 2010 with a very decent spec was £105k. There's not a lot of them and they were mostly well spec'd.
Prices will always be stronger April to Aug "in season", then they fall off as people unload them over Autumn/Winter, out of season.

Out of interest are you looking at dealers only, or would you consider buying private ??Any ideas why values are so strong and do you think they'll stay this way once the new one comes out? At a guess that'll be £110k with a couple options on it?

Only the first year of production was the base price around £80k. Mine was a June 10 car and hence got caught with VAT returning to 20% plus Porsche slipping in a 3% price increase !!! My car came in at £107k, and most cars came in at at least £95k by the time Lift System, DEM, Bucket Seats, and PCM added. Easy over£100k with PCCB.

I haven't tried an M3, but I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the decent level of comfort in a 997 GT3, I know I was.
+1 I was expecting something akin to a cup car but was surprised to learn it was just as compliant as my previous 997S, albeit a little more 'tied down'

Tempted to try one. Are they comfortable on the road - by comfortable, I mean, as comfy as say an M3 / sports salloon type thing, or are they more towards the rock hard track car / older supercar style ride?
Try one best drivers car I've driven ,honestly in terms of feedback and feel pisses on a 430 or gallardo .The ride is pretty good ,I just never plumped for one as to me a 911 is about use ability and I found the clutch too heavy for daily use ,I would struggle to think of a worse modern car to be stuck in traffic jam in .
But for a non daily it is (insert any superlative you want) ,just simply magnificent.

Why are prices so strong?
Two reasons. They are f
king awesome and they didn't make many. Thats it really.
If you want one, cough up.
My own view is that they won't be coming down anytime soon. And that is all GT3's.
This is true, but there is a suspicion that prices will weaken when the new 991 GT3 comes out and some current owners look to change. Whether they are making a mistake or not in doing so is an entirely seperate question! Two reasons. They are f

Not as comfy as an E9x M3 with the electronic dampers dialled back certainly, but better than a normal E9x on sports suspension with 19" run flats (M cars lack run flats and have slightly taller sidewalls on the tyres than normal 3 series, consequently they ride much better than the cooking cars). Note further that if you wanted one strictly for the road you can raise the ride height to gain even more suspension compliance.Or put another way - while they obviously don't like potholes, a GT3 (especially a 997) is perfectly comfortable enough to drive long distances only stopping for fuel.
