Having been mentioned a few times on here, i rang them for a quote on the new 355. Almost fell off my chair at how cheap their quote was compared to what i'd got from Norwich Union.

Anyone made a claim with them? Don't want cheap insurance that turns into a problem should i need to use it.

well I got a quote with LV and found it very cheap compared to NU.

In the end I paid a bit more for cover with royal.

LV did not want a tracker fitted which EVERY other company did and the price was very low.

I was concerned with premiums like this that in the event of a claim of total loss ( which is easy on a f car) that they would pa out anything like ts realistic value.

Also trading under the name Frizzel.

I've got my mk2 Cav sri insured with them via their 'UNION member discount' and they were 30 % cheaper than anywhere. I believe they are pretty much mainstream when it comes to claims.

But lets face it : Anyone will be cheaper than Nor-witch Money Grabbing Union. I mean I like a joke lads, but lets not take the PISSSS>

I'm insured with L & V with an agreed value of £56k. They were £500 cheaper than my old insurer, Nowell and Richards.

I went with LV for my insurance - at £750 it was £500 cheaper than the nearest quote.

I hope I don't have to make a claim to find out why.

Why , have you got experience with them not paying out/disputing value?

I have been with LV AKA 'Frizell' with both house and car insurance and never had a problem with a contents claim for instance.

I too got a quote for my 328 GTS and was happy with £580 fully comp, protected no claims (which is zero as its a second car) and unlimited miles. They didn't want to know about my 6 points, only that I hadn't been banned from driving!

All this crap about having no 'no claims' on a second car really winds me up. Its YOU that has earned the no claims, not the car!! FOOBAR!!!!!

No, not at all.

Unlike all the other "cheap" companies, LV didn't ask half the questions and load the quote based on speeding points.

I went through the full spiel with both Churchill and NU Direct only to be told they don't insure "my type of car".

What I meant is, I don't want to claim for the obvious reasons (my car's been nicked, I've had an accident, I lose my no claims etc). Sorry to mislead you.

Won't go into details but as a policy holder with L&V I was very impressed with a recent claim put in by a friend of mine who had an accident while abroad. The car was a write-off less than a year old and my friend incurred all sorts of accident related charges including a helicopter. The accident was mid August and he has just received a brand new replacement plus reimbursement for all other charges.

The service was at all times friendly and very efficient. Total cost was around £80K.

Low quotes don't always mean poor service!

Cheers,

Dave.

HI Tony, How did you get them to do this? I tried and tried to speak to someone who would give me a value. I was put through to about 4 people who said that they don't do this. If you have an accident I was told that an assessor would be despatched and he would then give a value for damage or total loss. I had already insured with them at this point, but because they were so cheap I was worried about the valuation.
I asked them to get an assessor to give a value now for peace of mind but they said they couldn't even if it meant I would now take my business elsewhere.
They have always been polite and it was quite the easiest renewal I have ever had....jjust a bit too easy if you know what I mean. I said I wouldn't want my 355 valued at any rate (you could pick up a badly looked after example for a lot less then I paid for mine) and I am still concerned about this.
Any idea how to track down the right person to talk to about this would be useful.
Cheers,
Ed

I've had a quote from AON for a 355 and they do a policy (classic car) where you don't need any no claims bonus - ours is already assigned to my wifes car. Do LV do a similar policy or have all the figures mentioned previously been based on full NCB?

Thanks, Jason

I used NCB last year with L&V, but be warned - their premiums have hiked in the last month or so as their underwriters have reassessed their risks.

Footman James are well worth a call. I have also found A-Plan helpful in the past.

Agree that L&V seem to be more like "market rate" now - but I went with them because they didn't apply load of conditions (e.g garaging after 10pm).

Re the two car NCB point some companies will allow one person's NCB against 2 cars as an "introductory offer" - Norwich Union did this for us on a previous car, but they declined to insure the Maserati.
