Rutland 100 Sportive

Anyone from here do the Rutland 100 sportive? Was a day of epic weather for my first century, legs almost gave up during the last 10 but managed 5:53 with 6000ft of climbing! Was really well organised I must say.
Think I might be sore tomorrow!!

I ended up riding a fair chunk of the route by accident on my own 80-odd mile training run this evening, really great course I thought, and a beautiful day for it. Wish I had done it with everyone else!

I did it. Was booked to do the 75 but swapped to the 100 at the last minute. Furthest I'd previously ridden was 66 but decided to push myself and do the big one. I'm new to cycling and it was my first sportive so was really please with 6hrs 57mins.

You must be delighted with your time for your first 100

Thoroughly enjoyable day - weather, route and the organisation (not that I've got anything to compare it with!) were excellent.

I rode this for the 5th year, took it steady to start with some mates until we approached Waltham Mast around 1/2 way, I was then set free and probably pushed too hard to 75 miles. so my the time i'd climbed up from eyebrook at Stoke Dry I was glad of the easy bit.

Great day out, nice weather ...unlike the floods of Noah day last year

These are my local roads so hope you enjoyed the err flatlands of Rutland, the next one from ITPevents on the 11th is even quieter for traffic and certainly flatter (but a few tests in the lincolnshire wolds)

After so many miles I'd not call the up hill sections out of Harringworth or Barrowden "easy"!
Whereabouts are you? I'm in downtown Uppingham. I must admit, knowing the final third of the route so well certainly helped me especially as it was my first long ride & sportive

agree that those last two are indeed proper hills, but I'd had enough by then so just twiddled up them ... I'm over near Melton. so in the middle of the route.

I really enjoyed the north eastern Belvoir / Melton bit. Despite having lived here for 8 years I'd only been on the direct route from Oakham to Melton or up the A1 and not visited the bit in the middle at all. It certainly was a lovely part of the world with some great roads for a in the TVR so I'll definitely be back that way soon
