My Porsche 968 currently has Continental Sport Contact 2s on it, but seems to be getting through them quite quickly - it needs a new set on the back, and that will be the second set in 18 months.

It's my daily driver, but I don't use it to commute and mostly use it for longer runs.

I like the feel of the Sport Contacts, and haven't had any problems with them other than wear. Does anyone have any recommendations for alternatives that might last a bit longer but without losing quality? Or is 18 months actually pretty good, considering the car? (The tyres on my old 924 lasted ages, and all I had before that was sheds)

Thanks,

HustleRussell

It's a performance car, The continentals are OEM and you're happy with them.
P.S. '18 months' doesn't really help anybody determine how fast they're wearing, what was the mileage?

Is the tyre wear even? If not there might be something wrong.

Sizes help too.

As a massive generalisation, contis wear fairly quickly. Bridgestones wear better but don't have the wet performance, while Michelin have good wear and good wet grip, but cost more than the others.

Again, sweeping generalisation.

Thanks all.

Wear is even, and they are 255 40 ZR 17s.

That's what I was thinking. Just thought I'd get a second opinion (or 3) in case there was something I was missing...

I tend to go with vredestein ultra sessantas. Good value, wear well and grip well particularly in the wet. Got them on my z4 coupe and had them on an e46 m3 before that. Not sure if they do them in your size, cam skill are generally quite well priced for them.

depends if you bothered by the n rating thing which i will not go into, the sport contact 2 is an old tyre there are plenty of better options out there.
