Hello Everyone,

Every day I walk to school and just before entering the school I sometimes see this beautiful 996 cabrio. However, there is no emblem on the back. It is loud and sounds like more than a C2 but I have no idea how to tell exactly which model it is. The wheels are the "swirly" 5 spoke design. Is there any way of differentiating between a C2, C2S, and Turbo from the outside? I believe that the pipes are the same on all three...I'd really like to figure this out.

Thanks!
Addison

The turbo (if it's a modern watercooled 996 or 997) will have large air intakes behind the doors. What year is it - can you tell?

No C2S 996, sounds like a C2 or C4/C4S with PSE (sports exhaust) maybe?

Put the registration into the HPI website and that'll tell you.

or

As has been said, there is no 996 C2S but it could be a C4S - does it have a full width reflector strip across the back end? If yes, it's a C4S.

If no, and it doesn't have the intakes just back from the doors (so not a turbo), then it's either a C2 or a C4.

If it's got silver brake calipers, it's a C4.
