Shoot with Gary and his F430
Discussion
Hi folks,
Here are some snaps from the shoot with Gary.
I'm not overly happy with these snaps so I will possibly re do the edits. We have another city shoot planned which I am really looking forward too.
Cheers!!

Cheers folks! It certainly is the ocean T car park (the further away one). The lighting is far too harsh there but we found a broken light which helped.
Brad gave me a location for his shoot which I'm looking forward to, nice and square location with some slightly better graffiti - assuming its all still there, also very near to Ocean T. The docks and surrounding areas must have a few hidden gems!

Yes I was waiting for that, what I'll do is drop everything I do and spend a day taking photographs then spend another day editing
I charge £375 call out for half a day so that's £1500 plus VAT if you want me to do that.

I would expect some great photos at that price!
I suppose your the fella who yells at football games telling the players how to do it but can't actually do it himself.
Surely with your expert knowledge you must have a couple of photos you've taken that will show us all how it's done!

Ignoring the er..."review" in one of the posts above, I quite like this set of pics. Getting rid of graffiti in photoshop must surely be acceptable to both parties and I'd especially like to see more 50mm type shots as in the rear tail light ones.
That would be my preference, should I require the services of a photographer. With some experience myself (and a graphic designer by trade), I'd probably go the DIY route but I hope that Gary is happy with the outcome and the OP can gain more experience like this.

Sorry to hijack - but what would your criticism be of this. You certainly seem to have plenty.I charge £375 call out for half a day so that's £1500 plus VAT if you want me to do that.

For reference, it would be good to see what a 1500/half day photographer can produce.......

Mate those pics are awesome, ignore the "know it all" comments above, I'd love for you to photograph my F430 too.
Keep up the good work.
One thing I would be intrigued to know is how many images a client would expect to receive from a day shoot?
I usually expect to get 10 shots that I am very pleased with from a shoot. Here are two shots I took for a promotional piece for the Cognoscenti that featured in the Press and Journal. And trust me, I am monumentally cheaper than what you!

From a constructive criticism point of view (Marty, you know I enjoy and have shared your shots on Facebook), I have a few thoughts.
I am not sure about the colouring: unless the car is Rosso Dino, the red seems a little unusual.
The night shot is nice concept but I'm not sure it is pulled off perfectly (saying that, I have no chance of getting pictures anywhere near as good as that at night!).
Slickmouse actually pointed out something useful, although it has been lost in his slightly odd rant - you could tidy up the backgrounds a little, using cloning, which would add to the pictures balance and focus.
Saying that, IMHO, a lot of the editing is great and brings the focus in on the car. A daytime shoot might be even better for you with the same car?
Just my two pence.

What a lovely car that is. Do you have any more snaps?
I really like the shots too! Did you get a say in the location? Fits the car so well.
Thank you to those who have commented and especially those who like my pictures - genuinely appreciated.
In fairness to the "review" I don't think he meant any harm, perhaps just a little blunt.
Being fairly new to the idea of charging and what the expectations are, I would aim for around 15 photos that I personally liked enough to warrant ever charging for. Something you guys will know better than me is my idea of good and the clients vary hugely. My most popular shots are often ones that only made the cut. I need to get over my fear of things not being perfect and accept that sometimes my photos are actually pretty good!
I am seeking perfection though.

It was the only photoshoot that I have done without a proper say in the location and I was perfectly happy when I saw it! It is superb for the car!Martyboy84 said:

I think you are right to take it like that. I think there is also a bit of ego in that as you are stepping on the toes of the Pros!In fairness to the "review" I don't think he meant any harm, perhaps just a little blunt.

If you are like me, you will like less pictures than others like. I sometimes get teased for not showing a shot that the owner loved and I wasn't keen on.I am seeking perfection though.
I have still not got around to charging yet as I mainly do shoots for mate's and I don't think that is on.

Thanks for that buddy. I'm all ears. I agree with everything you say. Part of the agreement of this shoot was the fact I was able to experiment slightly - hence the supercar in a multistory (at night of all things). A few of the photos are lovely but there are some that perhaps would be better especially during the day, I couldn't agree more. In technical terms I much prefer the shots with the RS4. Shooting at low iso during the day (overcast skies and I'm in heaven) I think with a car like a ferrari you really need to step up your game in terms of what your adding to the shot. It's very much a learning experience but a day time shoot, city back drop would probably be my first choice and in fact is where we are doing the next shoot.I usually expect to get 10 shots that I am very pleased with from a shoot. I actually ran a couple of edits taking out the office windows (as an example) but I preferred it with the lights. I decided instead to just take out some of the colour to keep the focus on the car.
As for the colour its not the standard ferrari red. It's the F1 red (Scuderia?).
Cheers!!
