Just realised one of our bikes has a big birthday this year!
It's a 1923 Montgomery, with an oil cooled OHV 350cc Bradshaw engine. She's going back on the road this year after we bought it from Holland at the end of last year. There's been a few bits and pieces tidied since this picture

She is a lovely old thing, and quite interesting being oil cooled (so wet sump too) and OHV - which was quite unusual on bikes that early.
I suspect that she's going to be very slow, although on driveway tests she's quite lively, and sounds lovely! Montgomery's an intersting company, in that they were credited with inventing the sidecar around the turn of the 20th century

Not so much a celebration but the company was founded in Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, but moved to Coventry during WW1. As Bury's not far from me I've found where the factory used to be (with help from others on another thread on here) so hopefully we'll have a ride over there one day with it

You should do! I'm not your typical old beardy type (I'm in my early 30s) but have long since given up on modern bikes on the road. I love the history and interest of the old bikes - particularly vintage bikes, which are pre-31 with bikes Slidingpillar said:

Ditto cars, but 'vintage' is a frequently mis-applied word. I've even seen it used on stuff produced in the 60sAre there many pre-31 car events then? There's loads of pre-31 bike ones, like the Banbury run which is restricted to 600 entrants. Quite a spectacular event
A VSCC car is pre-31, but certain cars are admitted as post vintage thoroughbreds. Plus some of their competitions are open to other cars, ie Pomeroy Trophy. But you do have to have an eligible vehicle to be a full member I think.
Most events they organise are broken down into several age related classes.
