What roof cycle carrier?

Hi there,

I am after some advice/recommendations for a cycle carrier probably for the roof as I do not wish to fit a tow bar. I have ben pricing up the bars and foot pack and just need to sort out the carrier. I will be carrying at most 2 adult mountain bikes.

If you have any pictures or general advice that would be much appreciated.

You don't specify what your bike is, but assuming it is an alu or steel framed MTB or road bike, you can't go wrong with either:

I have used a pair of the latter for 7 years now. No problems whatsoever.

ETA: If it's carbon framed, I'm not sure what to go for, so worth waiting for further advice!

I borrowed a Thule system a couple of weeks back, and it was excellent.

2 x Thule 591 for the kids and 2 x Thule 561 for the adult bikes on my old TT.

Maybe slightly overloaded

The 561 fork mount keeps the CofG down a bit, but you obviously have to do something with the front wheels. I bungied them to the frame without issues as they wouldn't fit in the car.

Thanks guys, I will be carrying two GT iDrives. Prefer a carrier where you fix the front fork rather than the wheel for a bit more security.
I have a saloon so the wheels will go in the boot fine.

For similar, I've used the Thule carrier, and it's very good. I think it's code is 561, but I might be wrong.
