Part Number Cross Checker

I know people keep posting links to these but I never save them and the search is yet again down. Therefore does anyone have a link to one where I can cross check part numbers.

The reason want this is I have been doing some research on my idling issue and the Ranger forums suggest that the coolant temperature sensor can cause the issues I am seeing and as my heads have been off, washed, skimmed and refitted there is a good chance I damaged this during the rebuild and it looks like a replacement is under £10 if the part number I have is correct.

Note the coolant temperature sensor I am looking at is not the otter switch but the one under the throttle body on the front of the near side head.

Putting a part No into Google usually manages to bring up alternatives and cross referances with a bit of digging.

I bought one of those a couple of years ago, and the applications list on the box included just about every 1980s-onwards Ford I could think of. If they all use the same ECU then it makes sense that they all need the same sensory input. I don't have a part number though.

If you hit "show all compatible vehicles" it comes up with a 40-page list of Fords!

Thanks for the reply but you have hit my issue on the head (so to speak), this one also comes up with a large list of fords and both are listed as fitting the 2.9i Cologne engine, your one under the Granada and sierra and the other under the sierra only but not the Granada which is strange.

However, as per photo below I have two sensors in the front of that head and am not sure what the second one is as one looks like the one you've referenced and the other like the one I have referenced but they can't both be doing the same job. Guess I'll have to get the car out next weekend and have a proper look at the sensors (i.e. take them out and see what is underneath - water or air or?). Unless of course someone can put me out of my misery by naming the sensors?

Possibly both sensing coolant temp. One for feed to ECU and other feeding temp gauge. Disconnect the one that appears to have a single wire and see if you loose your temp gauge. Or with ign on check for voltage if you get a permanent 12 v feed short it to earth. Also reference the wiring diagram and trace wire colour for temp gauge sensor that also may help. Best of luck.

The one closer to the camera there, is the ecu coolant sensor as per my link earlier. The gauge has a separate sensor.

think Cheifyo is on the right track, nearest is for the ECU and little one behind (single wire) is just the gauge.

Thanks all, that would make sense and could explain the differences between Sierra and Granada if the Granada took it's temp gauge reading from the ECU feed?

No, Granada was separate as well (I had a 2.9 years ago)
