I need to meet a couple of new employees on Tuesday in central Birmingham. Any suggestions for somewhere that has an informal lounge type thing (hotel) or coffee shop etc thats not too loud? just want to have an informal chat with them for a few hours and then head off somewhere for lunch. Suggestions please.

ahh should have added we will all be on the train because we are all coming from different corners of the country so somewhere around New Street / within a mile walk would be preferable.

sounds good but its been years since ive been to birmingham so all of that area is probably vastly different to what it was like 15 years ago. Any suggestions? I hear its all been done out round there so there should be some good restaurants for lunch too?

trouble is i moved out of brum in 1989 . i have been out for a drink around brindley place etc . so i would advise waiting for someone who is more up to date . but i love eating and drinking outside and if i could have a drink and lunch by the canal on a sunny day i would be very happy .

The Radisson (l think) at Mailbox is a shorter walk from the station & has a good lounge area for such meetings & is good from a business point of view...l've used it before for the same reason wink

It's Malmaison at the Mailbox, Raddisson is on Smallbrook queensway.

Both are only a couple of minutes walk from New Street but Malmaison would get my vote.

Behind it on the top floor of the Mailbox are about half a dozen decent bars and restaurants, or you could take the short walk or hop on the waterbus to Brindley Place.

Loads of places in the Mailbox which is about 5 minute walk from New Street. Brindley Place is a bit further.
