Just Curious about them , had a look around one today and it looked great, it has some really nice detail work on it , apart from it being a bit lardy it should go well .

It goes like sh*t off a shovel dear boy. I really liked it, and it does of course have a proper engine (V8) that sounds the business. Dynamically it's very good but not briiliant, and as a result the price tag goes against it. For the money I could get a nice Aston DB7......

Lovely looker!

Had the perfect opportunity to test the acceleration on one against the Chimaera on a private road but the chap behind the wheel of the Z8 declined...

Before that he "elegantly" cut me up a tad when I was caught behind some traffic on a public road. Odd, as soon as we got to the private area, he simply watched me accelerate off into the distance???

Still like the way they look though! A bit expensive for my wallet though.

Haven't driven one, but saw one going the other way on the Cat & Fiddle a few months back. Looked cool, sounded absolutely awesome, like a nascar racer on steroids. I wonder if he'd had a big exhaust put one 'cos BM's don't normally sound like that. Not sure I'd enjoy LHD only though.

when pater went to buy the Z3 (he has been forgiven), we had a wander round the Z8. As you said the build quality and the detail is fantastic and the engine is a beast. One came up behind us on the motorwaygoing up to Silverstone, having checked we werent in the Z3M, he promptly left us in a cloud dust and exhaust fumes. dont think the BMW dealer was impressed with my comment of "you wouldn't walk past a 355 spider for it though would you".....he mumbled something about James Bond!

Mag review said it's quick in a straight line but has less than ideal handling. In fact the x5 and M5 were quicker round the nuremburg. Looks interesting in a kitch 1950's american diner kind of way.

A friend of mine has one and I can tell you it can go round corners at speed (he has frightened me will driving it many times)
all the mod cons and faster than the 4.5 Chimp I had at the time (better road holding, 0-60 and top end obviously)

It looks like the sort of car i could have for a long time and not get tired of , which is unusual for me .

It is kind of retro but i just love the look of it and lets face it they are a bit like hens teeth on the road ..... it is very very tempting , what kind of price do they go for in the UK im just wondering if with LHD only they are cheaper than over here (Sweden)

Is the Z8 not one of the fastest depreciting cars in history? I though I read that somewhere??

Must admit though, they look the business. Seen one in London with the no. plate M15 SPY.

Well thats what i was hopng for due to the LHD , over here they still have the rarity factor , i belive a lot were sold to the UK and would not mind importing one .

I can't believe they'd depreciate so much. In its first year only 70 were imported to the UK. Initial worlwide demand was so great, BMW had to ramp up production to cope, but still wanted to keep it very much a limited production car. And true to their word, this is the last year of production.

Haven't driven one, but the numbers are staggering. Quicker to 100, 130, and the quarter mile than a 360 Spider. And quicker than the 360 coupe to the standing mile. Motor Trend's first test showed 0-60 in 4.2 seconds.

Regarding Nurburgring lap times, while it is indeed slower than the X5 (that one being stripped, and re-fitted with the V12 LM racer's 700+ hp engine, plus major suspension and brake mods), it is 10 seconds quicker than the M5 (8:18 vs. 8:28).

Interesting car but too much money I think. The front also looks too high. As someone else said, I'd rather have a DB7 for the same loot, or a TVR for the performance at half the price or less.

Don't do it Marki !!!!

Friend has had one for approx 1 yr now - yes, it is very very quick. And it handles ok, and the styling is niceish. It kinda lacks the "Factor X" though that you get on better sports cars - surely for that sort of cash a 911 makes so much more sense Oh, and it looks really pap with the hood up - like a boat with a tent on it....
