GoPro Hero3 - somewhat frustrating

Well in just over a week I still can't get my GoPro Hero3 to work, problems include:

1) camera not being recognised by Macbook Air
2) SD card often not being recognised
3) Camera locks and battery has to be removed
4) Regularly can't now scroll through the menu
5) Preview doesn't work on iPod

Think its a great piece of kit and am so far pretty sanguine about this, but not sure how much longer I can persist with this

A lot of the GoPro forums recommend never hooking the camera directly to a computer - just take out the SD ad put it in the computer's reader (Do Airs have one?). The reason being that computers can sometimes interfere with the card format or something. No idea how accurate that is.

I'm not saying it's a solution as such but are you sure the SD card class is high enough?

Not had any of these issues with my HDH2 so far, apart from it shutting down after getting too hot.

A lot of hero 3 ship with problems, which upgrading to the latest firmware clears. Be sure to do that before doing anything else. Hth

Try somthing simple first (you might have already tried it) format the card in the camera and see if it still locks up.

Next would be an update.

MacBooks should be fine with go pros so its not likely to be that. I use them all the time.

They don't seem the best ATM I have three infornt of me now and one is bricked.

Mine also worked straight out the box (Hero3 White), however the first thing I did was upgrade the firmware.

If you can read the contents of the memory card in other folder (not DCIM, but I can't remember what it is called without the camera here) should have a file in it saying what firmware you are running.

We have a Hero2 and a Hero3 which we run on the race motorbike. This season the Hero2 has worked perfectly all season, the Hero3 has been nothing but a pain in the @aa, even after the firmware upgrade. Currently I trust the Hero2 to workperfectly but don't trust the Hero3 at all.
