Over the last 3 months 'Traffic Information' dot-matrix signs have been sprouting up all over traffic hot-spots in Stevenage and Hitchin.

Does anyone know when they'll actually switch them on?

Not really that interested in them, it just bugs me that none of them have been turned on yet and I keep an eye out every morning / evening!

Huge waste of money. They should have used it to make a start on repairing the hundreds of potholes in north Hertfordshire - its like driving through a minefield.

They have put one of these things up on the B1004 from Much Hadham as it hits the A120 Bishops Stortford Bypass. Only people coming from Much Hadham can see it. It will add ZERO value to anyone's journey. An utter, utter, waste.

Having lived all over the UK, and indeed the world, I have had the dubious pleasure of living under many councils - but Herts CC / East Herts DC take the award for the most utterly inept, misguided and stupidly miss-informed bunch of retards I've ever come across. What they do with 'their' money defies common sense.

And don't get me started on Herts Highways - they make Imelda Marcos look like she's the world's wisest with money...

There's one on London Road as you leave St Ives heading towards the A14. Ofcourse by the time you reach the sign and it's telling you the A14 is borked, there's nowhere to turn around to take a different route...

Dont forget Hitchins CC are going to introduce a town wide 20mph limit because a couple of roads want it for their children.

Why dont they spend the money and undertake a survey? If they do, theyll notice that either everyone already drives around at 26mph (due to over reading speedos) or less and those that go faster (normally school run mums) than 30, arent really going to listen to the 20 signs anyway.

What with extra noise pollution, cars not really geared for cruising in 20 - i might as well just leave mine in first, its just a load of bks
