Servicing Recomendation for Manchester
Discussion
This is the first time I've tried this, so here goes, my Chimera 400 is need of its 42K sevice, I was planning to take it to Dave Batty in Compton near where I live. The trouble comes is I'm working in Manchester for the next month and would like to keeo the car with me so can anyone recomend a place to service my TVR that is readily accesible to central Manchester.
Cheers

Christopher Neils in Northwich is the only official place I know of. If they're as shit with the car as they are in the mail order parts department then I'd be very very worried.
Bauer Millet in Central Manchester do repairs to TVR's as far as I'm aware -don't know about services, never used either for work on the car

You could try Bauer Millet as they are in the City Centre and are the most convienient, although they are not the cheapest around & I think they may have lost thier franchise.
Probably better to go to Christopher Niel in Northwich
(Service Manager there told me Bauer Millet take cars to them anyway) Although this would mean getting the train back to Manchester (30 mins) unless you could get a replacement.

Hey,
let me know how the service goes, and what state the car come back in.
I first used Chris Neils to service mine, but switched to Team Central, just wasnt happy with CN, nothing I could put my finger on, more to do with attitude. TC seemed great, shame they went out of business. Last service went back to Chris Neils and they were really helpful, I was a lot happier with them. Even came and picked my car up from my drive for no charge!

Just got the Chimaera back from Bauer Millet and all ok, can't really comment on how good or otherwise their work is but they did seem to do a thorough job, picked up a loose exhaust clamp that I forgot to mention. Car seems to be running better,
but a bit difficult to really play with all this rain.
Seemed a little expensive, I'm only going by the prices quoted on Fernhurt's website for servicing costs, they were almost 2/3 as much again.
But on balance I'd recomend them.

I've always had my TVR's serviced in Blackpool (I live in Liverpool). They've always been friendly and helpful which makes the hour drive not so bad. Plus you get to see dozens of beautiful cars lined up row after row
To be honest I don't know how they're cost compare with others. It's about peace of mind that those who created and built my car also service and maintain it. Plus I've had the opportunity to chat with Peter and others involved in the build/servicing when delivering/collecting my Tuscan which is great 'cause I can get clarification on all the Speed 6 gossip/rumours....

I was keeping an eye on your car as I work in the big red building across the road and can see the service centre compound fron the fifth floor. The yellow cerbie parked in there has been there for a couple weeks probably awaiting parts I guess.
If your still working in Manchester next week why not take a run out the North cheshire TVRCC next tuesday night .
We meet at the Swan with Two Nicks in Little Bollington.
Junction 7 M56.
Tell us how much for the service as I am sure we are all curious.

I'm collecting my Chim from the bodyshop tomorrow (finally, after 9 weeks

) and would be very interested to know what the service costs are like at Bauer Millet and Blackpool. Having moved back from Surrey, where there is a TVR dealer/indy round every corner, the choices up here are a little thin on the ground.
