So we decided to pop into the Ducati Factory for a tour on the way down to Mugello this year.

Once we had booked we got back an email saying only Ducati bikes are allowed in the carpark, which we can deal with, but that there was no luggage storage available which is a bit of a pain as we are going to be on route between hotels when we stop in for the tour.

We don't really want to leave our bikes with the panniers / tailpacks in some random parking spot while we go off to the factory for the tour.

Has anyone come across this problem and, if so, what was your solution?

can't help with the luggage issue but be careful with parking around the factory, it's not in a very salubrious area. Left the car in a nearby car park whilst visiting the factory and came back to find all the windows smashed. The car's windows are all doubled glazed so they must have been attacking it for a little while.

I agree it's a bit elitist - a shame that half the guys who turn up on them ride like it like its their first bike hehe

We went last year and had no problem with parking the car....just circulated for 10 minutes waiting for a spot close to the factory. We were unable to do the actual factory tour due to the recent earthquakes they had , so might be worth checking that out if thats what you are really keen on doing. The museum tour however, is well worth the visit.

I went to the factory and museum tour last week, there is a (free!) car park up on the right, and it may be possible to park the bikes on the road near the entrance if there is space, when we went there it was full of cars. Or you could park them at the factory store and then walk to the factory, that had a pretty big car park and isnt far from the factory. Dont know what way you will be approaching from but we got to a big roundabout, the factory store was on the right and the factory was down the round on the left.

On a side note, for 10 Euros it was fantastic. You get about 1hr wondering around the factory, they give a headset so you can hear the guide as they talk to you about bits, then you get taken upstairs to the museum and they walk you around that pointing out specific bikes and facts. Then you are left to your own devices to look at and take photos to your hearts content.

As I said, parking isn't an issue, we can walk from whereever we park, but there will be nowhere to store the soft luggage we will be carrying as we are en route from one hotel to another that day and Bologna is just a stop on the route.

We just parked right outside the gate, and left our stuff on the bikes. I used my wire combination padlock to secure my helmet to the back wheel (on the shady side of the bike so it didn't get roasting!). It's a busy road, and we never thoughts twice about leaving our tents and pants on the bikes really, anywhere in Europe.

ETA: We parked where the scooter is right outside the gate.

Sod that "only ducati" rule for a game of soldiers

i'd park outside the front door and screw-em. Let them try to tell a potential customer to go away.

I did the museum tour last August - judging by the bikes lined up outside the factory most of their employees get hit by the same non-Ducati rule.

I suppose you could ask the guys in the on-site cafe to look after your stuff - it would be a bit late if they refuse tho'

Parking at the factory shop over the round about to the south seems like a good idea ( 1 min walk?) but I managed to grab a place just along from the gates.

Enjoy it.

Yes, it's terrific. The museum bit is OK but if the factory tour is still part of it, that's fascinating. Then round the corner there's a Ducati clothes outlet.

I went last year when staying in Bologna. Plenty of buses running out there from the centre only takes 15 to 20mins.
The museum is fine but doesn t take very long, was very glad I d booked the factory tour as well. That was the highlight for me.
