R56 Cooper Flat Spot & Dodgy Speedo

Evening chaps,
My OH is on her 3rd mini, she's had a R53 Cooper D, R53 Cooper S and now she has a R56 Cooper.
The car is 2007 with about 50k on the clock. Recently it's developed a rather large flat spot at about 2300rpm. It's enough to cause a big issue on a hill in say 4th gear and its noticeable in every gear.
Any ideas/ advice?
Also the large speedo on the dash has packed in, the needle now moves when it fancies and it 10mph Increments, its currently sat at 138mph!! Again any ideas on this, I assume the unit will need replacing.
