First time since purchasing my car in Jan when I have used the sunroof and it was a terrible experience. Anything over 15 mph and the buffeting makes your ears pop!! I did the "one touch", that was awful, so I took it all the way back and still awful.

Put the windows down, and that helped.

Is this a standard problem with P cars? If so, why even bother with a sunroof if it is rendered useless in operation?

No buffeting on my C2S, on either opening. I don't use it that much really and would've preferred a car without, but beggars can't be choosers. smile

Never had to open a window to prevent buffeting, which I'm glad about else it would do my head in!

Same here.

No problem with my 997.1 roof.

A little mesh should pop up at the front of the roif when the roof opens to reduce buffeting in the cabin and it's not unknown to stick down.

Worth a check yes

Thanks, this appears to be the problem. How do I unstick it?!

Been into Porsche today. Apparently when they replaced the sunroof cassette, one of the curtain clips had a hairline crack and they suspect that it failed upon use, preventing the curtains from deploying to prevent the wind buffeting sound.

Have ordered in 2 new curtains to replace and prevent the awful sound!

The roof should open to almost open fully, but not quite.

From memory once it has stopped opening you can click again and it retracts further and this will cause buffeting - is it possible it's going back too far?

No, that's not the case here, but thanks anyway

Apparently this deflector should pop up, but I can't see one

Are the springs lifting it up?

That's the thing, I can't see anything that would resemble a spoiler that could be lifted up.......do these cars have such spoilers?

I hope I'm not getting confused as I don't have my 997 any more!

I thought tyre wash a 'mesh' that lifted up as the sunroof went back, that's the part that stops buffeting.....

Perhaps a fellow current 997 owner can help?

Just about every car I've owned that had a sunroof had a little wind deflector that pops up when the roof is retracted. This is to stop buffeting, I'd be amazed if the 997 was any different. I'd say something's amiss.

There is a small, spring loaded, full width blade in the front edge of the opening. If it has been to the OPC, I would imagine that it is in place, but it is a simple check to feel for? If it is in place, that's as good as it will get.

I'm scratching my head thinking why isn't it there?

Has the roof been repaired?

It's not there because Porsche replaced my sunroof cassette and apparently the spoiler has to be ordered separately; something which they didn't do and something which they failed to spot when I complained about the wind buffeting and the spoiler everyone talks about?!
