What's North Cambridgeshire like?

We are in south Lincs, about 20 miles from Peterborough. Personally, I hate Peterboghorror - too many crap areas, too many scrotes - after all, they filled a 500 place prison in a matter of months from there!
Wisbech is well, Wisbech. Very funny accents, again, not a particularly nice place. Property prices are cheap. It depends on what you are used to - nightlife is crap compared to city life, shops are crap in comparison, everything from that perspective is crap, however, the crime rates are lower than city life, the views, albeit flat, can be amazing, and there are some beautiful hidden gems to find.

A former resident of Wisbech writes:
It's a f
king dump. March is about the same but without the occasionally pleasant architecture. Chatteris is like March but without a prison.
If you can speak Polish, you'll be able to make yourself understood much better. If you like dags and lucky heather, this too could help.
Wisbech magistrates court allegedly has the largest dock in the country, an unfortunate necessity for prosecuting entire families for deviant behaviour.
There are also some very grim villages- Welney, Outwell and Littleport spring readily to mind. Welney boasts the only alternative traffic-avoiding route between Wisbech and Cambridge. It is frequently flooded.
The Norfolk edge of the Fens is much nicer. Ely and points south are also an improvement.
ETA: March was built by British Rail: pretty, it ain't.

I moved to Peterborough about 18 months ago for work. It's a nice enough city if you get into one of the good areas. Some of the Ortons below the city are very nice with miles of lakes and country paths to enjoy, the city centre is just a standard British city with a nice cathedral. It's got everything you could need from a city. London or Cambridge are close enough by train as is th coast.
That said I moved here for a job, so that wa my reason, it is also pretty cheap for what you can get though.

Another one here in St.Ives
I wouldnt go any further North just for transport link reasons,
In st. Ives you can get a decent sized house fairly cheap C. 150k for 3 bed
There is the much joked about Guided bus, which despite being astronomically expensive to build is pretty good and will get you into cambridge town centre in 30mins or less
The A14 is crap, always has been and always will be unless they spend a fortune upgrading it, but on a quiet day its a good quick road that links to several major motorways
Only been in St. Ives a few months having moved from Cambridge itself. Couldnt afford to live in Cambridge as its mega bucks! The 3 bed house in St. Ives at £150k would be £300k in Cambridge
There are loads of pubs, some decent shops, overall a pretty nice place to live
