Hi Folks,
I saw 2 Boxsters today, one GT Silver and the other Platinum Silver and the salesman said the difference (other than the extra £1000) is that that Platinum Silver has a more champagne tint. I looked at both and I could not tell the difference, but maybe it was the showroom light.
Is there a view on the differences; is the GT Silver that much better or just a different shade (if you can have that in metallic)? £1000 extra seems a lot of money to my eyes, but I am happy to be educated.
I also see from the Porsche website that the residuals for a Boxster S are lower than a Cayman after 3 years; I think it was 47% verses around 52%, so spending another £1000 if there is no real difference is pretty much money down the drain unless it does look so much better.

GT Silver has alot of contrast within - it works well on widebody 911s or 911s with an aerokit where the light catches the edges.

Platinum Silver is brighter and a much flatter shade of silver. Almost white in some bright angles.

GT Silver is my favourite.

You possibly know this but GT Silver was specially created for the Carrera GT, I had a hard back book on the CGT which lavished a couple of pages on how the GT Silver colour worked with the Carrera GTs body design with lots of arty pics with designers caressing CGT panels and haunches smile

People obviously wanted such an exclusive colour so it was offered at a price on certain models.... now I believe it is available on most.

I read somewhere that GT Silver is a bugger to blend in if the car needs paint......

I really wanted GT silver but couldn't justify the extra £1000 so went will Platinum really pleased with it the bronze tint makes it much more interesting and warmer than GT silver IMO... Just wish I'd gone with the satin platinum wheels too smile

Mine is Gt silver which I got slightly used. If I was speccing I would have been happy with platinum. They are both good in their own way and better than arctic IMHO which I find a bit flat. Re paint matching, I've not noticed this as a problem when mine needed a new bumper. In general silver is supposedly tough to match but not my personal experience
