Well worn topic, but what lense for weddings. I have canon 7d and EFS 18-135 & my beloved EF 24070 1:2:8 L

Any other recommendations?

What do you feel is lacking with your current two?

I am not sure, i think i should be ok, wondering if they are good enough for a wide anglegroup shot, the bride has requested, i think they should be.

Was just keen to get people opinions etc

I can recommend the 85mm f1.8, it could be very useful for low-light indoors shots and will be plenty long enough on a 7D to get candid portraits of the guests. Or you might find the extra fov of the 50mm f1.8 to be more usable. Both are very reasonably priced for the image quality.

I would have thought 18mm would be wide enough for group shots, if not, stand back a bit hehe. Not sure what the 18-135 is like, but be aware most zooms won't be super-sharp at the edges of the frame when zoomed right out, and at max aperture.....I'd probably use the 24-70 and stand further back if needed.

18mm should be fine for the group IME.

One important thing to bear in mind is that you won't want to be switching lenses all the time at a wedding. To many moments happen too quickly and you won't want to miss any of them.

I'd stick to the 18-135 for the majority of the day for that reason. The flexibility to shoot whatever you need to will be more useful than the last degree of image quality.

I might switch to the 24-70 for inside the church (low light) and the formal portraits but resist the urge to change on a shot by shot basis.

The best thing you could get your hands on would be a second body, ideally with a fast prime hanging from it. That way can switch more quickly (or even let an assistant switch lenses while you keep shooting) but most importantly should your 7D fail it won't be "Game Over".

Thanks, i have just brought a 430 EXII which i have been meaning to buy for a while, and i think i should be able to cover most shots to the standard the bride is looking for. She asked me to do seeing some photos i took an another friends wedding, just there was also a pro there, so no pressue on me! This time its just me ! haha!

24-105 is great on full frame (and if shooting a wedding I use it on my 5D3) but might not be wide enough on a crop body, I'd look at the 17-55 for that.

Because another lens covering the same exact same focal lengths is useful how?

Current lense is a normal cannon, its ok but i do notice shaper images with my L. Also just read some good reviews.

THink i'll buy a prime 50mm as its fairly cheap and gives good potrait images. I have a 2D so might mount it to that, as someone earlier suggests having too bodies there is not a bad idea
