Door sealing , or lack of it !

Hi Chaps

Loving my new 3R but at high speed the passenger door starts to whistle as the door/window seal starts to fail. The only way to stop it is to open the windows! I have read this is a common fault , my seals look like they are in good condition.

Has anyone got round this by modifying the seals in some way ? was thinking if something could be used to build out the seal a bit ?, any thoughts ?

If the doors leak rain, then theres the problem. If not try turning the heater control unit to 're-circ'. This reduces the volume of air being forced onto the cabin at speed.

I replaced my seals with a slightly thicker version from eBay, intended for a caravan but it works.

It could be your door catch or door needing adjusted. When the door is closed how is the panel line between the door and quarter. When I bought mine I found it had dropped a fair amount. If you remove the door card you can get acces to the hinge mounts. There was lots of adjustment in mine, and it also allows the door to be adjusted in or out at the top, I adjusted it to suit the door to quarter gap, leaving a tight enough seal against the window, it is quite time consuming but well worth it if you like to DIY.

Some good ideas. There is a bit of door drop on the passenger side although when it's closed against the striker it's sits nicely with even gaps. Like the thicker door seal idea though

Get some pipe like the type you use for window washer pump/ aquarium

Wrap it round the door seal cut and join.

The door will now seal perfectly

could also be the glass adjustment... it can be adjusted to sit tighter against the door rubber although this is much more work to change as it means stripping the door card off etc.
