Hi Guys

I had a meeting with the rest of the organisers on thursday. To cut a very long story short, we are not organising the event this year. We are hoping to organise a slightly different larger event next year with a completely different format and venue. We have been working hard in the background to see if we could pull this together for this year but we can't.

So, thanks to everyone for their patience. It has been fun and very hard work for the past four years with amazing support from so many people on here and in the clubs.

When we have something more to report we will. To give an idea, the thinking is to make it the Italian car and bike day with supercar and super bikes. Have a venue where participants can if they wish use their cars and bikes and for the public to see and hear them in action. Logistically this needs a different venue and a lot more planning and support and people actually doing things. We pioneered the Italian car and bike idea, so we have no issues with extending this. Whether people see this as a good idea remains to be seen.

We want to do a different type of event, but still keep the Italian theme and participation with anything from a fiat to a Ferrari, but open this up to specific types of cars and bikes.

The likely venue ail be East Fortune as we could not find another suitable venue in Scotland.

As always I am happy to hear any views positive or negative or other suggestions! We certainly have been battling with these for some time.

Looking forward to the new event Paul.

Was there any specific reason(s) for not having the same type of event as previous years at Hopeton House? Have to confess that it was favorite meet of the year.

Disappointed it's not on this year, but all the best for the new venture. Hopetoun will, for me , be a hard act to follow, thanks for organising them. Looking forward to the next venture.

The main issue that we have with Hopetoun is that they are not car fans and therefore aren't interested in making the event as good as it could be. If we compare this to Wilton House and Goodwood, they both have owners that love cars and want to see them used to their full potential.

One of the main criticisms of the ICaBD was that we didn't have enough to do on the day and people got bored early. This led to exhibitors wanting to leave before 4pm and this caused issues with visitors and the staff of the house.

To make the event great, we wanted to have cars moving around. Not a proper hill climb (can you imagine the insurance???) just have the cars and bikes driving round a set course and making a noise. Unfortunately, Hopetoun were not interested having this kind of event and so that left us just organising more of the same and not being able to meet people's expectations.

It was a difficult decision, and there's probably not a better looking venue in Scotland, but that just wasn't enough to grow the event.

Shame to hear It won't be happening this year. I always really enjoyed it and thought you did a great job in organising.

Here's hoping for a bigger/better event in the future!

A shame to hear no show this year - but 2014 will give me time to get the Italian metal back on the road!

I enjoyed the couple of years that i went and the weather was always kind. It did rain once towards the end of the day, but good weather always helps. My two favourite cars were the yellow Intergral and the masariti bi-turbo... that might just have been yellow too!! Prehaps i can blame my Imola S4 for making me partial to the colour.

The organising must be at times a nightmare, so appreciative of the years at Hopetoun House. There will be mixed views about a new venue, but the organisers have to take it in the direction that they feel is best. If i'm available i will attend every year as it's a great event and just it's always good to see Paul's shirts. At least my wee one is getting to an age where she can laugh at them and not be scared of them!!
