Pretty interesting overall apart from:
- American ad-break repetition
- The fact that it wasn't more about the GT3 and the engine
Really good overall though. Pleasingly gratuitous use of 'accelerating GT3 around twisty road clips'. Modern factory methods are just awesome.

I enjoyed this too - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECATvlRf3ls
I was intrigued to see that the block halves were assembled by robot as that is where there was a quality issue on mine without enough sealant being used leading to oil leaks.
You would think that a robot would have sensors in place to know there was exactly the right amount of sealant.
Or was the sealant a dodgy batch?

I didn't think the engine they show being built in the video is a GT3 unit, but I could be wrong. You would think that a robot would have sensors in place to know there was exactly the right amount of sealant.

You are correct - however it does say that all variations were built on this line - and as I understand the 997 Mezgers were built on the line alongside other engines.yup, regular engine being assembled ( and all the others rolling around etc too) theres not a mezger anywhere in sight during the production apart from in the back of the car itself.
what was AP on about with that porsche being the first company to offer centrelocks on a street legal car bit. he has been spouting any old tosh to suit his purpose for longer than folks realise i guess. i was out of fingers counting up cars that used them before id even finished my swearing outburst.

I've watched a few of these mega factories programmes now and although very interesting, they all have some 'facts' the manufacturer's marketing team presumably shared that NatGeo have taken as read.what was AP on about with that porsche being the first company to offer centrelocks on a street legal car bit. he has been spouting any old tosh to suit his purpose for longer than folks realise i guess. i was out of fingers counting up cars that used them before id even finished my swearing outburst.
