993GT2 vs 993GT2
Discussion
Blue as you know we have 2 993 GT2Rs , one with a sequential box . These guys I think have bigger Turbos as well and that track day is insane . We were recently in Portugal on a TD and if you blow past people there is a smack on the hand so only feathered down the straights to reduce top speed.
Trying to drive it on slicks in damp conditions at Portimao over the blind rises was a wild ride..

Hi Graeme and no restrictors ( FIA GT2 ) we built an engine and on the rolling road it made 590 bhp at 1 bar . But on the car with restrictors we only make about 500 with 1.4 bar . Have fitted a new more visible boost gauge and interesting to see how boost can vary with heat soak etc.

Peter - I remember chatting to Paul at Silverstone Classic in 2007 when the sequential was fitted to the Silver RHD GT2R....fantastic!Trying to drive it on slicks in damp conditions at Portimao over the blind rises was a wild ride..
Seems very manic for a track day especially in part 3 when both cars end up in the gravel very close to each other off the same bend.
Graeme - I think the car in the top of the screen split might be a 964 judging by the front wings. Great vids though, crazy speeds.
Wow! Just wow.
Awesome cars and aggressive driving. Glad you've cleared up that it was indeed a trackday. I was thinking "Well the cars aren't numbered up, but that's way too aggressive for a trackday". Obviously not!
It was only when it got to 9.55 when his "4 wheels off the track overtake" meant it wouldn't be racing.
Brilliant clip!

Yeah I read that, that's what I thought. Mega aggressive driving, but like I say that overtake at 9.55 in the original clip surely would be penalised, unless you can get away with it a few times before you get told off about it.
Either way a great clip and ironic that they both end up beside each other in the gravel.

I've been to Magny Cours on a race / track day weekend. I only passengered in a friend's 964 in one of the track sessions, but they were racing it on the same day. So this video could be from either type of session (I wasn't watching closely enough to check for passengers in any of the cars).
The French attitude to safety is somewhat different to ours - you'll have also noticed a number of stranded cars just left in the gravel whilst the session continued, but also: toddlers in the pitlane, check, dogs in the pitlane, check, driving the wrong way down the pitlane (not reversing, actually driving against the flow of traffic), check. Oh yeah, and lunch was included for drivers and guests...including wine for everyone.
