I have just got my new Cans from CCC. Excellent service and a great looking set of cans.

I have a problem. I CAN'T GET THE OLD ONES OFF!!

I have undone the brackets, after a bit of Huffying and Puffing, but the old ones don't want to come off.

So I am left with the Brackets off and the cans just held on by years of muck and Heat.

Any Ideas ??

I want to see, and HEAR the new Cans on, HELP !!!!

WD40. Lost of. Hammer usage. Lots of. Failing that, get it down to some local indy garage where they can get it up on a hoist to get decent leverage. Mine were fairly solidly stuck... took a couple of us to wrench them off even with it up in the air.

When i put mine on i had the same problem with the offside one.

I WD40'd it and tried to twist it hammer etc but all that happened is that the exhaust joint down by the gearbox slid off.

Not a major problem but i would recommend paying a couple of quid and getting some small local garage to do it.

Should only take about 10 to 15 mins and if it does slide off further down then they will be in a good position to put it back on.

Mine were also well stuck on so it had to go up on the dealers ramp and he got them off no problem. I have never had same problem removing the CCC cans they seem to slide off better.

Thanks chaps, Ill give it a bit of a hammering and a good dose of WD40. If all else fails I shall pop along to the garage accross the road.

Strange ! are all TVR tuscan owners called NICK ?

Cheers

If so, I've got to ask my parents some serious questions re. birth certificates...

Yep, same problem with mine. After much WD40 and hammering I still couldn't get the off side can off. I took it down to the local garage where they had to use a pneumatic chisel to get the old can off!

Couple of tips

1) Smear a bit of copper grease on the new cans when you put them on - this should make it a bit easier to get them off in the future.

2) Check the tightness of the clamps every once in a while, as they can have a habit of coming loose!

If you can get some heat on it. The sleeve expands and hey presto!
