Petrol Shower!!

Has anybody else had this problem before?
I have just recently re-built my 290s engine and on starting up fuel is gushing out where the fuel regulator joins the fuel rail. I have taken it off and checked the 'o'ring, and re-attached it, but it dosn't make any differance. So close to getting it running again!
Is the hole on the fuel rail just a metal hole or is there something that goes in it as it just seems like the regulator and rail are not connecting properly.

Where is it spraying from I know when I replaced my fuel filter it had to be done up very tight, stupid question, did you remember the copper washers ? Don't mean to be patronising

Yeah mike, its as tight as i can get it. There just seems to be a gap at the top and the preasure of the fuel sprays out.
I dont want to over tighten it as the thread is alloy and the bolts are steel, so there could be a chance of cross threading i think.

Pound to a Penny the O ring is damaged ?

The seal is all down to that o ring, not mega tight bolts. New O ring and a smear of Vaseline when assembling.

Hello mike,
The origional o-ring was out of shape, then it seemed to go back into shape, and that was the first time i tried it, that didnt work, so replaced it with a new one that looked the same size, (i had a spare one from one of the injectors that looked the same) and it is still doing it. I dont know if they are the same o-rings, but it looked the same.
The problem continues............
Might have to get an expert in to look at it
But i have not tried the vas, perhaps that is what is needed

I believe it is the same as an injector O ring.

On mine (alloy fuel rail) the two lugs on the regulator that the little bolts go through are right up to the alloy but it shouldn't require any force to pull it right in, you're not compressing the O ring.

That is what it seems like to me mike, its like the o-ring is not pressing in properly, dont know why though.
I will get someone to turn the engine over while i watch it closely, as i have been trying to do it on my own, so i cant get a good look at it as im turning it over.

With the V8/hotwire setup the injectors and regulator are sealed with O rings - there are two sizes of O ring used for injectors which are not interchangeable but are close enough to be easily confused. It should be a firm push fit. Perhaps this applies to the V6 setup too - don't assume the O rings are the right size.
