I heard this morning that CALA have applied for planning permission to build 550 homes at Milltimber. Are Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire Councils going to sort out the road infrastructure to cope with this. OK, I know the Western Peripheral road is supposed to be coming sometime, but when? Will it have the capacity to carry the additional traffic associate to such a huge development? I heard that the AWPR is to be single carriage way, does anyone know anything different? There's been talk of the AWPR since 1987, will it ever be built and will it be built to cope with the volume of traffic 26 years later or will it be just another blunder of a folly by Aberdeen roads department?
The entire M25 took from the early 1970’s until it’s completion in 1986, a total of 15 years, the AWPR has taken 26 years and a spade hasn’t been put in the ground as yet.

Actually the first plan for the AWPR was put on the table in 1963. 50 years ago it was going to cost in the region of a heady £10,000,000.

And how much now? Bet they wished they had done it back then.

Sorry cjb1 , childishly couldn't resist smile I guessed it was due to the site being up and down like a fiddler's elbow earlier.

Down our way they built an enormous development that has required the building of 2 new primary schools. The developers these days generally have to fulfil some sort of social upgrade benefit to get planning consent for their high density, traffic-calmed horrors.

With about 16 roundabouts as they don't seem to have grasped the concept of slip roads or flyovers, poor design yet again frown

Where have you seen 16 roundabouts? According to the latest plan on the AWPR website it shows 1??

I think there is a lot of misinformation going about in relation to the AWPR.

Where are all the people coming from? Is aberdeen still growing rapidly? Its like down in Mugiemoss with the new houses and the new phases being planned. Same with Dyce, old BP Building is now houses and Stoneywood road has a few new houses as well going up.

The bit that annoys me is the 'Affordable' housing from *insert rediculous* price here. That gets on my moobs.

not a critism of youcerbfan and thanks for posting that link but seriously, how bloody vague can you make a map appear? Just typical of Aberdeen and Shire Councils.

If you're looking for more detail, better to look at the exhibition materials.

Scheme proposals 1-18 show each section in detail, and the 2 junction layout pdf's show, well, the junction layouts!

romania and bulgaria....

aberdeen is booming and the oil industry is crying out for skilled people. Unfortunitly this means "average" house prices are extremely high

And that is the running theme of the areas ability to think ahead... there are other routes which predate that as well.

It still boggles the mind that a one bedroom Stuart Milne chicken coop costs 'from' £134,995 up here, yet back in one of the not-so-bad areas of Lanarkshire my friend has just moved into a huge four bed villa for only £10k more.

I need to become a contractor!!!

You have to question the foresight of Aberdeen & shires planning authorities, must be measures in days not decades.
Moreso what passes through planning as a good idea... forget what is needed for the good of the place, think about individual wealth. boils my piss, seen it for a long time.
One can only imagine that when relaxed planning laws pass through, people will build what they want, that will stimulate the economy and make an architectural utopia... Really? Mundane box land go large!
