Genuine Battery Cost
Discussion
Just been quoted £221 (incl VAT) for my 03 C4S battery, though, hold your breath, its only £186 as a PGB Member (Car under Warranty).
As I feel like a real member shelling out LOM (£), can anyone confirm if the plates are made from 9k or 14k Lead?
Can anyone also advise if a Genuine Battery can be purchased for less. A lot less!!!!
THANKS FOR ALL THE QUICK RESPONSES. I TOOK YOUR ADVICE AND BOUGHT A BOSCH S4 - 80 amps & a 4 year warranty, all for £85 from EuroCar Parts, using their on-line discount code.

In my experience the Porsche batteries last barely over two years (their warranty period), whereas the Bosch ones are good for considerably longer. Bosch also have higher crank capacities.
...my indie informed me recently that given the poor performance of Porsche batteries they have switched all their outgoing cars over to Bosch.
The only reason to continue with Porsche is for warranty (though logically it should not make a difference) or if you are selling. For some strange reason buyers (and their inspectors) can have an emotional attachment to an original Porsche branded (but lower quality) battery.

Just ensure that the price you've been quoted includes the acid (seriously - it's often priced separately) and of course fitting. I have heard of it being quoted as high as £260 on a 997!As I feel like a real member shelling out LOM (£), can anyone confirm if the plates are made from 9k or 14k Lead?

Assuming you're not on the Porsche approved warranty - the Bosch Silver S5 is an awesome bit of kit for £80 (I bought one for my C2S)! As others have said - far higher "cold cranking" output (so it starts faster and audibly harder) and comes with a 5 year Bosch warranty - whats not to love?

Me too, it was also funny that the battery was cheaper to be delivered to my door than to go to the actual shop to pick it up!!I found this lot ramarkably cheap for Bosch batteries on numerous occassions

Ive used these guys twice in the past year. I go Bosch S5 each time, just a few quid more gets a slightly stronger battery and 5 years warrenty.Just beware their delivery times are usually 4 days from order (even if they say 2 days over the phone to you.....)
