a) Daily Mail not renowned for accurate, balanced reporting; but is renowned for hysterical, scaremongering reporting.
b) S's not overly loaded with tricky monitoring systems or PAS/ABS/Traction Control etc.
c) Not many (any) of my dash warning lights can be seen or work - I only have indicator, dipped/full beam, handbrake and battery charging!!
Think I'll rest peacefully in my bed tonight .

The only 2 new test items I am slightly nervous about are that the battery must be secure and wiring must be suitably attached and can't be loose.
My battery is secure but with a strap not the original bracket. I'm hoping that's fine but MOT testers are a funny bunch.
The wiring one I am concerned about as TVR wiring is appalling and generally it is hardly supported at all. My engine look fell onto my exhaust last year due to no having a sensible supported route. I'm hopin my odd arrangement of cable ties and clips will be good enough. Also any bare wire is a fail too by the looks of things so cover it up with electrical tape!!

Battery secure, does it say "held my original bracket/strap (I hope not coz mines now in the boot) ?Wiring secure, MOT or not I'd want mine secure and not flopping onto the exhaust !
MOT's are not to "catch you out" but to help ensure your car is safe and roadworthy, things I'd like to think my car is, and would be even if nobody was checking.

MOT fail if a car's exhaust too loud compared to a similar make/model. My little Euro hack-around even though not leaking fumes failed for this reason.
My TVR S3 is due for it's MOT in April, electrics stated from previous I'm not bothered about as it's got 'stuff' all thankfully! however the exhaust will be obviously seen to be of non-standard however can if pushed argue the fact other TVR's sounding similar.
Our Euro leaders?... seem to be becoming more of a pain every year!

The first thing to do is choose your MOT station carefully, some are much more classic friendly than others. Local car clubs will probably be able to advise.MOT fail if a car's exhaust too loud compared to a similar make/model. My little Euro hack-around even though not leaking fumes failed for this reason.

Too true, there are 'sensible' MOT stations around who use a bit of common sense being a classic car etc. The 'S' I own was previously my Father's car in Hampshire and it sailed through last years MOT, only a bit worried about the noise levels for this years MOT as said my little run-around failed on exhaust noise. I shall pre check with the MOT station as obviously there are other/similar TVR S's around with loud exhausts. My Girlfiends very low milage Micra has it's MOT booked for this coming Saturday, for the eight years she has owned it the battery light flashes on and off not only at idle but also under load.
I have used my code reader but all is fine, I have tested the output of the alternator and again all ok, belt is tensioned correctly etc so I gave my regular MOT station a call this morning explaing this, he said the recent news on these MOT changes have been blown out of all proportion.
The flashing light will not be a fail also according to this artical it might not even be a fault.
