Hi All, I am part way thorugh a body off restoration of our V8S, and after much deliberation and advice have decided to take the engine out.

Prop shafts and Drive shafts out last night, Diff out tonight, and the Engine over the next couple of evenings. The question I have which is probably fairly simple is does anyone have a procedure for the actual removal. Will it come out as a whole unit or is it best to detach the clutch bell housing. Perhaps it is better to take the clutch and gearbox out first.

Any advice gladly recieved, if this seems like a bit of a dumb question then apologies, but if you knew my engineering talent and experience you would understand the naivety!!

Considering how little is left of the car I'd have thought "out in one" and split once on the floor scratchchin

I took mine out in one - seemed easier. You may have to lift the whole chassis/engine up so that you have enough room to drop the gearbox end low enough so that you have the angle to get it out. Think I have some pics of mine as it came out. I'll have a look...
