lads, and I really do mean this.. please tone down the subject matter - I don't want PH on the company "banned" list, ok? I enjoy a laugh as much as anyone, but am going to be pretty annoyed if I lose access to the whole site.

Another thing, just be aware of who you may be offending with some of the more dodgy material.

Sorry to be a drag, but this is important.

You'd have to have a pretty up tight IT dept if they banned PH for that lot.

I must admit if I was an advertiser I'd be unhappy about my banner being on the same page as some of the stuff in those threads.

I let it run for a while but enough is enough really.

They were funny but we've managed for the last 3 years without discussing the ins and outs of Flashers sex life at Butlins so I guess we can wait another three years

I'll wager that advertisers wouldn't mind if they thought they were the most read threads...

Cheers
Matt.

I can see your point, but I'll be a little (no I'll be VERY) upset if serious censorship starts to appear, so I guess then answer is self regulate or set up another board altogether.

As a compromise, in website feedback, on the OffTopic thread, I have proposed that we have another forum which can be hidden by those with squeamish IT departments, in which the rest of us can have our fun.

Oh and if the advertisers complain, just tell them that it makes no odds as everyone uses banner blockers anyway *

*I only use it on one PC which has a v.slow internet connection. I just love all those shiny banner on my other PCs, and I click through regularly

Maybe Durex and Viagra would be interested in taking advertising space if that were so

I'm not about to impose any stricter moderation than I have done previously. It's just that this week we got a little closer to the mark.

Actually PH is the only website where I have ever clicked on the banners 'cos the adverts were relevant and I go "oh I'll look at that". Worth telling your sponsers Ted.

I just think Flasher was very lucky not to have lost his unbelievable oversized watch while indulging at Butlins

Oh yes and Bollox to censorship some of the O/T's make it more worthwhile and just add to the serious topics, they also contribute greatly to creating the "community feel", and I for one won't be able to look at Flasher without smirking at the next PH meet.

I think Ted has got it just about right (I'm in licky licky brown -nose mode here and I don't mean my "caught by mother" incident either) the MG BBS set up a forum specifically for general nonsense and filth (Flame Wars) and it worked very well at keeping the fruitier stuff away from the techno geeks. However now that they have gone all Third Reich over there (you now have to register membership and if you use a swear word in one of your postings your acess is denied and you have to re-register with new name password etc. A royal pain in the arse (incidentally "arse" would have got me blocked for example!)) it is dying a death and I for one hardly drop in now which is a shame as it did have a very good sense of comradeship and some of the depravity was truly outstanding!

It's always going to be a tricky balance.

A few things get my goat though. Some of the readers (contributors?) get to the end of reading a long humorous / risky thread then post some crap like; "oh please don't post any filthy fun on here". Err, hello, if you don't like a programme on tv do you sit there watching the whole thing end to end, then write in to Ann Robinson about how you were offended?! Oh, my mistake, some old codgers do.

I would have stopped looking at this site months ago if it wasn't for the balance of info and fun. The humour on here isn't just smutty for the sake of it, it's bloody witty stuff sometimes. If it carries on as we are it will be ok. Let's not water down the content to appease the Points of View oddballs.
