How much of a discount would you ask for if you found out a porsche had serious crash damage, been repaired, but not been written off?

If it was SERIOUS crash damage, I wouldn't ask for any discount. Would just walk away.

Too many variables.
How bad was the damage? How good is the repair?

Either way photos are essential otherwise don't believe a thing the seller says until you inspect it fully.

General rule of thumb for a car that's on the hit list is it's worth two thirds of the value of a straight example. Even if it's not on the list you'd still want that discount.

Personally, I wouldn't touch a previously damaged Porsche as it would always bug me that I didn't have a nice example, but that's just me.

Front end damage is generally always repairable.
Rear end damage not so and definitely a case of walk away.

If Serious damange then I would walk away.

Little unsure why you would have a car with serious damage and yet not written off. Did they not have insurance or whats the story?

If it was a cat D car because of minor damage and the cost or replacement parts, courtesy car etc pushed it into the Cat category then the general guide is 20 - 30% off.

There are lots of variables to take into consideration so its not an easy question to answer.

Phil R did a write up on cat D & C cars in total 911 mag a year or so ago. Conclusion was go in with your eyes wide open and you may be able to get a great car at a discount off an un cat price. Go in with your eyes shut and you could get burned.

I would rather have a cat D car at a 20% discount than a car which suffered Serious damage and wasn`t written off at say a 30% discount.

The written off part isn`t really the true issue, the extent of the damage is.
