Just get a light that says "Hot" every time you press the throttle
I'm told EGT is the best way to let the ECU know a bank is going lean and can go into safe mode. This is quicker and safer than using AFR. You can even go mental and have EGT on each cylinder but that's for race cars. mgbond said:

Fi cars use it on the dyno, they use wideband on the trackAdrian W said:

Ok, but an F1 car is engineered to a very high precision so once sorted it can be left as it has all other types of sensors. So ill go back to what I was told. EGT is better to monitor than AFR on our cars for safety. My ECU has a safe page and I can have EGT and WB among other things. I already have one WB so I'm going to get one fitted to the other bank and if I get new manifolds then I can squeeze in a couple of EGT sensors as they need to go as close to th exhaust valves as possible.
I'm not saying EGT is best, just that's what I was told.

What does it do with the EGT data?
Puts engine in safe mode if temp goes too high. After all its only a thermocouple. Edited by Adrian W on Monday 11th March 22:48
