Picked up my first Porsche yesterday so this is my first post in here! It's a seal grey 2002 C2. Love it! Pics to follow when I take some later!

Anyway, first questions (of many I'm sure). Does anyone use the SIM card phone thing in the car? If so what do you do? Pretty sure my iPhone has some micro SIM so that's not going to fit - maybe get a duplicate SIM card, not sure if you can?

Or do you continually switch your SIM from phone to car which I'm sure is a pain? Maybe get a PAYG SIM?

Or get some aftermarket bluetooth thingy?

Thanks for any help

General consensus is that PCM blows and replacing the head unit is the way forward. If you have BOSE then you may want to find out if you have MOST digital or the older analogue version.

MY2002 had either depending on when they were made in the sequence. Mine is early MY2002, (seal grey as it happens - great colour isn't it? smile), and had analogue Bose so I just swapped it out for a Kenwood DNX unit with SatNav, Bluetooth, DVD, iPod etc and it works great. A friend has PCM in his and he has a MOST bose amp so he's looking at £££ to replace all of that.

A 2002 car could have pcm1 or pcm2. The former takes a full credit card size sim and the latter takes the more usual sim size ( but not micro sim without an adapter).
I use a giff gaff payg sim in my pcm1 as it only works with O2 and Vodafone, and giff gaff use the O2 network.

Something ive never got is a telephone in a car when everyone has a mobile!!

I'd remove it if possible if it were mine.

I've got a PAYG Vodafone sim in mine.
If I was that bothered about calling in the car I'd get an iPhone contract that allows me to divert (currently with Tesco) or a Bluetooth earpiece, but for the amount I use the car I just use the PAYG with a few favourite numbers programmed in.

I put a Dension 500 Gateway with bluetooth in mine - not straightforward (the instructions are awful)

Connects to my phone and plays whatever tunes I play on it - should be able to take/make calls on it, but not got that working yet...

I've also got a PAYG sim in mine (O2 - £1 from Tesco) - I've used it to receive calls from family/friends when driving and it's a backup to main phone when out and about.

I've got a full credit card PAYG SIM in mine but, irritatingly, I have to hold it pushed in for it to connect, somewhat spoiling the "hands-free" intentions of the device!

Thanks for responses! It seems a very helpful and friendly place here.

I will get a PAYG SIM and try that.
