Evening all

I am currently thinking of buying an 3.2 carrera cab and converting it into a speedster.

Can anyone recommend companies that can help with the conversion? Has anyone attempted this before? Not looking to strip it out completely and get rid of electric niceties or the huge weight saving excercises, more for the roofline, windscreen, humps etc...

Wouldn’t be able to stretch to the premiums that are being fetched for original speedsters, especially wide body RHD in the colour spec that I am looking for. Hence the question.

Thanks for your help!

There's a great thread over on impactbumpers.com, detailing a recent Targa to Speedster conversion with stunning result

Tripes 3.0SC targa to speedster build.

Not the work of 5 minutes but the results are truly stunning

9M have built 3 of these in 993 format so far, mine and 2 x LHD cars. Well documented over on Rennlist. The cost involved to do it properly / correctly, would probably be greater than the differential between a buying a good 3.2 Carrera and converting it 'v' buying a factory Speedster. The parts availability are gradually drying up.
The factory documented that they made 2 x 993's, so the handful of others were made by the likes of Freisinger and 9M

Thanks all!

Graham - 911uk thread pictures you posted are amazing! Wow!

I am kicking myself for not picking up an original speedster back 15 years ago - it was only going for £35k back then - for some reason they were out of favour at that time, but now so scarce and appreciating in values.

Having had 4 porsches over the years (without one for 3 years now) my favorite was surprisingly the 964 cab - so much more fun than the newer breeds. Will be scouting for the best '89 3.2 car to begin the project.

Huge thanks to everyone for getting me started on what will probably be the road to bancruptcy on this project! Let the fun begin!!

Yep. Me too. Back In 1997, whislt I was waiting for my new Boxster build slot to arrive, I was offered a very low mileage white speedster (about 4,000 miles if I recall correctly) Price was about £34K which at the time seemed a bit steep for an 'older car'

Bought the new Boxster instead - silly man!

The one Graham had done is truly superb. I've seen it a few times and it is really a top class job.
