I have the old model and the newer ones look tiny in comparison. Is this an optical illusion or have they become smaller inside?

I think new Cayenne has a more roomy interior than original Cayenne

I can confirm that more room internally than a current shape X5. Of no use to your question though...

Never thought of the new Cayenne as looking smaller but for those who do it's an optical illusion. The new Cayenne is in fact slightly bigger on all dimensions...

Length 4846 compared to 4780 mm
Width 1939 compared to 1928 mm
Height 1705 compared to 1700 mm

Interesting.

I think the new Cayenne wears its size very well, whereas the original Cayenne was never an entirely successful design, looking big and heavy.

This is evidenced in wheel sizes. The new Cayenne can carry 19" or 20" wheels comfortably, but the old one needed 20"-21" for the dimensions to look balanced.

Thank you everyone. It must just be me who thinks that it looks smaller.

And me! I think the design is just that much better/neater but it definitely looks smaller to me.

Agreed - the newer car looks half the size. I'd never have considered an old shape Cayenne, but the new one is on my shopping list.
