How long do tyres on a Boxster last?
Discussion
Not having had a Porsche, I was trying to get a a feel for how long tyres last on a Boxster (981) as I want to be aware of future costs.
I understand it depends on driving style, types of road and right foot
Being roughly 50/50 weight distribution do tyres wear equally front and rear
I presume wear patterns would be the same on a 987 or 986

Early indication on mine is that the 19" P Zero are going to give 7000 rear and 14000 front, unless the wear rate changes as they bed in. The Michelin Pilot Alpin winters in the same size look like they're wearing at less than half that rate. Although IIRC winters have to be binned at 4mm (anyone know?), so the total might not end up as double.
Hope this helps. Reckon it's probably less that you were expecting!

Thanks everybody
I am thinking of getting a nearly new Boxster 981 'S' but it will cost double what I have ever previously bought a car for. So I am looking at the expense of running it, service tyres petrol warranty etc.
I ran a Focus ST for 50,000 miles and got about 20,000 miles from each set of tyres, I always rotated them so had a complete set each time. Obviously I can not do that on a 981. I am having to bear tyre replacement cost in mind when a set will be the region of £1000

I would add some caution here, although Porsches have been available for some time at a second hand price that most people can afford, it very much is the running and maintenance of what is still a Premium Sports car that people tend to forget.
Parts, servicing, tyres and of course nowadays petrol costs need to be considered. These are not cars that can be run for the same price as a Ford or Vauxhall, even though some years it may seem like it.
Depending on the car, the way it's driven and age - these costs can vary hugely. If your getting close to your budget just to buy the car, then it may not be the best way forward for you.

Fully appreciate the comments, thanks.Parts, servicing, tyres and of course nowadays petrol costs need to be considered. These are not cars that can be run for the same price as a Ford or Vauxhall, even though some years it may seem like it.

All my previous cars have always been meticulously maintained and kept in tip top condition.
I have the money for the car from a will. Trying to be sensible in getting a handle in understanding running costs in future years.
I also will buy an OPC warranty from year 4 onwards
