987 PCM & Nav iphone/bluetooth options
Discussion
Hi all
Picked up my '06 987 yesterday. Have to say the Nav is awful! A couple of questions:
1. Are there any updates available for it?
2. The unit has a slot for a sim - assuming this wont take the sim of a smartphone? If not, is the phone system pretty much redundant in the car i.e. do I need some sort of aftermarket accessory?
3. Doesnt seem to be an AUX port to plug in ipod/iphone for music. Can anyone make any recommendations?
Thanks

Hi
1. Try this thread http://gpsunderground.com/forum/porsche/19814-pcm2... I now have 2012 maps in my PCM 2.1
2. The SIM tray was designed for other countries where you can have multiple sim cards for one number, so it's pretty useless here in the UK.
I just had a Denison Gateway 500S BT fitted, it's an updated version of the old 500 with much improved bluetooth. Works a charm with PCM 2.1 as far as making and receiving calls, with good quality. Only problem I've found is the PCM will only store 199? numbers so if you have more on your phone then they won't sync and you'll have to dial manually.
3. The Denison will stream music by Bluetooth which works well or you can control your iPod from the screen which is a bit clunky as it mimics your cd changer which will be made redundant.
