Assuming a wise purchase of an almost new decent spec 981S (with good discount) would set you back low 40s... Which 911s are in that range, and how old were you thinking of?

New Boxster = Lots of depreciation
Older 911 = Less / no depreciation (depending on model and good buying)

New Boxster = Warranty Peace of Mind
Older 911 = Possible high bills looming

I'd rather the older 911 as I'd rather spend the money on keeping the car in good condition rather than losing it on depreciation.

Good summary and totally agree.

I'd go Gen 2 997 for that money. Two year warranty from OPC. Nice car too.

Floored,

You should be able to receive a healthy discount on a new 981s as there are plenty of prebuilt cars sitting out there awaiting
a new home and kindly owner.

These cars from my perception will be well kitted out with bells and whistles, your friendly OPC salesman should be able to
pull these little gems from the system and find you something close if not perfect too your liking.

Give then a wish list, light the blue touch paper then stand well back and watch the pounds fall off your future Pride and Joy.

PM me if you need a further nudge in the right direction.

It all depends, on what type of older 911 you want? Some hold there money better than others.

The older 911's seem to be holding up well value wise. While Boxsters are going down, in price and value each year.

Pete,

What colour have you gone for?.

Are they putting a cherished Plate on for you out of interest from your 997,the reason I ask is that I'm still no nearer to getting ours
on the road some 3 weeks plus after letting my p/x go in early to be clear for the plate change.

Oddly DLVA cashed our cheque 10 days ago and we have also had an HPI check come in for our p/x against its new numberbanghead.

Hope everthing goes well for yours at the weekend and please post some pictures just to make me even more envious.....enjoy!.

Mines platinum, it's at the OPC now, unfortunately due to some bad timing with a personal issue I'm not able to get there until Saturday... Re the plate, no I'm not puting my private plate on this one, its got the history of a cat d on it from my z4m which cost me a sale on the 997 so I think it's going on my Puma and I'm gonna get a different plate for the box.

A tricky one, but I always prefer a new car to an older one. It depends on how much cash you're prepared to burn. I fancied a 997 GTS Cab until I learned that the 991 Cab was coming. Decisions, decisions.....

Yep that'll be lovely, very much like Platinum myself and considered one in that colour myself but it had an issue sadly......

I couldn't get my fat ar*e in and out the fitted bucket sports seats, please note for legal reasons I did not involve my Wife in that Statement..,whistle.

Oh well when you pick yours up mine will not doubt still be sitting there like Billy no mates, its the GT silver job with the red hood covered in Spiders webs and

When you say older 911, how old? And how many miles a year would you do in it?

my 997 gen 2 is a lot more refined than the earlier 997, and with age you'll loose a few bhp. gen 2 997 is a great 911.

it really depends on what you want and enjoy in a car......
