Having spent most of Sunday cleaning the car, I brought it into work today. There is some buliding work going on and now the car is covered with a fine layer of dust - it was nice shiny metallic black.

Is there some sort of 'wet-wipe' for cars? Just so I can lift the dust of it and have it shiny again.

Cheers.

A chamois may work as it shouldnt streak the wax but pick the dust up off the paint.

Rinse it well first then chamois? Less scratching?

i would wash it , giving it a real good hosing off before any sponge is put near it , the dust could be abrasive

I saw a cab driver using a brush on his cab the other day. It looks like a dustpan brush but with longer softer fibers, probably impregnated with something to make dust stick to it, a little like a tack rag used to remove dust prior to spraying.

Not sure where you could get one, you could try your local car accessory shop.

Try a good old-style hardware store, these are for dusting radiators...... haeting type not cooling type!

I have bought a little feather duster, just to give it a quick going over. The car is 'Diamondbrited' so I'm not too worried about little scratches.

I'm off for the ferry straight after work, pootling about Holland/Germany for a day or so, then off to the continental TVR meet at Zolder.

Cheers.

Coming back from Le Mans on the ferry I saw a bloke in a lilac Griff (M4 LTR) get out a feather duster and give his car the once over just prior to disembarking at Pompey.

Seemed to work quote well. Then saw him pootling at 60mph on the M27 going west.

Full of useless information, me.

What you need is a "California Car Duster", it's a wooden handled mop like duster, which has a special wax baked into it. Lifts dust without scratching and the dirtier it gets the better it works. It costs £18.50 and is availible from www.frost.co.uk just click on car care and it's second on the list.

This is the closest thing that I can find in the UK to a product in the US called "Mother's Instant Detailer"

www.halfords.com/shop/item.asp?id=228528

I use the Mother's product religiously on the Esprit between Carnauba Waxes. (You would want to use the California Duster first for larger dust particles)...

I bought one of these at last years Classic and Sportscar Show. Its excellent and lifts the dust without leaving any marks. They do say that they get better as they get dirtier too.

I'm in Paris at the mo, but I'll post full details when I get home if you want.

Cheers,
