Help finding a decent S2 or S3

Hi all,
Was hoping some kind soul might be able to help me locate a good S2 or S3.
It's going to be a 70th birthday present for my old man, who never quite
finished his Scimitar restoration project and now, due to his new pacemaker,
he's had to sell it as he can't weld anymore.
To be honest I'm asking for help as I really don't know anything about these
TVR's or cars in general and ideally I'd be able to buy one that wasn't a
complete lemon / death trap. Minor work is fine, just not welding. I kind
of want him to enjoy driving it straight away.
I've seen a couple but have no idea if they're over priced, and I thought
maybe getting one from this forum, it'd be less of an unknown.

I personally think with Fernies backing it up with their rock solid reputation its not a bad buy. I do know a bit about the history of this and can tell you it was almost mint when it turned up a few years back.
Fernhurst are very highly regarded and they have started to offer 3 year warranties on some of their tvrs too. This should be a very good car that will provide a few years trouble free motoring. Or at least a significant reduction in risk if things go wrong. Its definitely the pick of the v6s' out there at the moment.
I've no doubt the Fernhurst is a good one, just haven't got that kind of cash.

From what I have seen and heard, currently £5000 should get you one in reasonable condition, with no nasty surprises, obviously with more to spend you get better, as long as you have someone to check who knows these cars, known weak spots. Anything advertised for less will probably need some work or has a skeleton in the closet, short history or some niggles! But everything can be sorted with time, money and knowhow.
The guys on here are a mine of very good advice and information, but the main thing to look for is that the chassis is good or has had a rebuild done and all the electrics work as they should, as with any fibreglass bodied car the earthing is an issue.
It sounds like I know what I am on about but that is because I have listened to the others on here with experience over the years.
If you checkout the other threads on S forum there are several cars having a photographic rebuild, which shows a few of the things to look for.

Yeah I noticed the date on those photos ha ha, ah well I'll keep looking.

There's a 280S ( 2.9 engine ) currently on fleabay that may be worth a look, even though it's not your Dad's preferred colour. (It's red )
The vendor states that the chassis had a recent ( when? ) overhaul by Selby TVR, and the description sounds honest enough. MOT to July.
It's in Redcar, Cleveland, so a fair run from London, but it may be worth pursuing.
I have not viewed this car & have no association with the vendor, just passing on the info.
